Because Night Elves have everything going for them.
They’re
1: A pretty elven race
2: Not an allied race and therefore don’t need to be unlocked.
3: Have the best racial in the game to the point it’s broken and an insane dps gain for ferals/rogues.
4: Have access to druids
5: Are the only alliance race that have access to an entire class (until midnight, which will presumedly be locked behind a quest for void elves.)
Nightborne could never compete with that, even if you made them look like night elves.
The females honestly look fine, it’s the men who are the issue.
But Nightborne have one of if not the worst racials in the game, need to be unlocked and have no access to demon hunters or druids…

I don’t know that they are specifically going out of their way to create races that no one wants to play. I think they attempt to find something that fits the story well enough, and maybe adds some level of continuity to the expansion. It would be very strange to go into that last section of the broken aisles and see all of these elves running about and not have the option to make one. However, as we have seen in this expansion in our very final season, we are taken to the home of the ethereal’s and they seem to be wildly popular and requested as a playable race yet we’re not given any merit. If there was ever a time to add them, this would have been it.

I agree. Haranir Far from here. Players KEEP begging in droves for ethereals and they reply with « best we can do is those things from the Avatar movie. You’re welcome »

That’s because the experimental lizards were truly half-baked on release and were supposed to be the big new hero class/race. That by default means they’ll eventually make some changes when players outcry. Over an allied race when half of them are reskins anyway.
And to this day people are still asking to be able to mog the damn lizard. Sure they have the illusion of more customization, but then you look deeper and realize you can’t really do much with them beyond the basics.

Right. Evokers aren’t si unpopular because they’re not fun to play. Devastation is literally such a fun spec. Evokers are so unpopular because they’re dracthyr

I was thinking more along the lines of adding additional classes, other customizations, new lore, and various other elements. While there are still a few things that these people continue to ask about, I would say this is the one race who came out like Demon Hunter with a sole purpose of having a two spec class in a support role and calling it a day. Since they release there have been several overtures to improve the race. Not all of them, but several. That was the only point I was trying to make.

You make a good point about Nightborne being neglected. Ironically, I hadn’t given them much thought, but when you put it that way, it does sound rather messed up.
All the other Elves got special customizations- with the Sanlayn/undead Elves as well as the Black Moon stuff.
The Void Elves are getting Demon Hunters, which makes the Nightborne the only Elves that can’t.
The fact that Blizzard gave Void Elves access to Demon Hunters and not Nightborne says a lot. It says they really don’t care what Players think.
It’s such blatant Alliance Bias and a thumb in the eye to the Horde. Like: “Yes, we are giving another Alliance Race access to this class - but no other Horde Races. Being fair and thinking about the Horde would cost a Raid tier!”
Heck, they can’t even update a Horde Capital without making special accommodations for the Alliance.
It’s a shame. But they really don’t care about the Horde, other than as background for their Alliance Characters. And they don’t even try to hide it anymore.

Alliance gets everything these days. Dude they even got the burning legion to join! It’s ridiculous

They’d rather keep adding half baked allied races no one asked for instead of expanding the ones we already had.

Right? Its totally fine and not even a little bit unacceptable for mag’har to have four hair color options
Blizzard is like a five year old child coloring and saying « look mommy! » upon immediately moving on and forgetting they colored it

Hello! Some of us do in fact exist, and funny enough we’ve got 4-5 of em on my raid team. Glowy hands and 80% slow are pretty rad

Blizzard seems ashamed of their playable Nightborne, so much so that, to this day, they still use NPC Nightborne models everywhere, even in the updated Silvermoon it is NPC Nightborne, lol.
I thought the customizations would help, but no matter what, I still look like a Night Elf pretending to be Nightborne.
They are the OG Highborne, the ones who survived 10,000 years, and mastered the arcane to the point that the Bronze Dragonflight recognized their chronomancy as equal to their own.
And yet, in Blizzard’s eyes, the Nightborne are extinct. They deserve better. After all, much of Legion’s success comes from Suramar and the Nightborne.
Have you seen them on the Nightborne?

It is a joke at this point.

Legendary title cutoff. Also I agree

Do you know the difference between NPC and player models?
NPC models do not need to be adapted to each individual piece of transmog gear. That would be a sht ton of work to do which could have cost is a whole big Legion patch if they had done this.

I like them. I love the red one.
The only thing I do hate though?
Is that fuggly thing on their chins, which comes with the chestpiece
I’d love a chest-mog of their heritage armour for BOTH colour variants that don’t have it.
Especially when you can just add it on @ the barbershop anyway …
Like it just ruins the whole thing for me, personally.

Not going to lie. While doing my Suramar quest. I did feel like they benched them up pretty hard.
The story begins with big words and strong dialogues.
But in reality the nightborne are showed so weak and no customization. But the other three are highly marketed. I believe it is due to protecting what sells.
So they don’t upset the players who play the other three elves.
Sad position for nightborne they for dealt the wrong card.
