Notice: Transmog will not be free

I keep seeing people saying that transmog will be free. This is incorrect.

The following wowhead article incorrectly reported that and has since been revised.

https://www.wowhead.com/news/players-will-save-thousands-of-gold-in-midnight-with-free-transmogging-378217

The gist is that transmog will not be free, instead it will be bound to your character slot instead of the item in the slot.

So no more needing to fix your mog every time you get an upgrade. This will save you money.

But it is NOT FREE MOG.

Mog will not be free in midnight.

I hope this will head off some of the impending s-show.

So they’re going to the SWTOR style of transmog. Now hopefully they expand it to having outfit tabs that we pay for and can freely switch between.

There was some mention of situation outfits or something like that. That may be similar.

I am getting real tired of that. Whose fault was it this time, WoWHead or Blizzard?

Idk the details but It seems like it was a miscommunication. Poor initial communication from blizzard is my primary suspect.

I am making a post on this.

Thanks for the update.

My wonderful grammar or the poor communication?

:joy:

This. There needs to be more. And better.

I think it’s a really good case for them going on their own with expansion reveals instead of trying to jam it into a 5 minute stage segment in gamescom.

The whole thing has been a mess so far

:sob:

I had already excitedly told my bf about free transmog.

Maybe Blizzard will see how popular this was and give us free transmog one day.

Maybe but until they announce it, please spread the word, this is going to be a kick in the shin for a lot of people, better to get it out of the way sooner than later.

i dont care if its free, i just want slot based transmog. theres only like maybe 2 mogs on any characters i always use anyway.

Paying for extra tabs would not be a good idea if it costs RL money. Gold? Alright sure.
RL money nope.

Good. That’s how it should’ve been when they revamped the system in Legion, and it’s one of the reasons I preferred SWTOR’s wardrobe system. Also, no need to rework a void elf racial.

Yep that’s pretty much all I wanted. I have five basic outfits that I float through on my RP characters and usually one outfit on my PVE characters. So I can set it and forget it and only have to pay for it once. So it’s definitely going to be free for me.

I rarely change my xmog so this will still be nice for someone like me but it’s gonna be annoying for people that change outfits all the time.

On one hand, this is nice that we don’t have to waste any gold or worry about having to stop and apply a mog if we get an upgrade; however, this going to be an extremely major pain with how I make GIFs in some situations. Overall, though it’s going to better for the vast majority of players and situations, but it’ll probably make me think hard if I’m willing to put in a lot more time and thousands of gold—currently, I use a mix of heirloom and very low-level greens to apply mogs to, only costing a handful of gold because vendor value is low—to make one GIF if that particular GIF idea requires a lot of transmog/costume changes. We’ll see how this works out for this.

Even though this may affect me negatively in that regard, I actually do prefer per-slot over per-item transmog systems in other games, so I still support this change. It’ll be better for me in every case of just playing the game even if it’s a net negative for when I’m playing extremely-short-movie director.

Why are we still here… just to suffer?

I admire your optimism.
