I want to know what makes zuljan such a liked character after doing the new story chapter… I felt like I had a troll arator with me … very juvenile acting character. But we all like different things! So tell me why you like zuljan?

Surprisingly, it’s deceptively simple. People like Zul’jan because he feels authentic. What I mean by this is that he behaves as you’d expect someone in his position to. The Amani have been at war for thousands of years. They were a grand empire that was brought low and humiliated time and time again. All they have left is the idea of what they were, the resentment for having lost it, and the burning desire to return to greatness. Zul’jan epitomizes all of this. He epitomizes what it is to be Amani, and people love that. They love the tension it sparks and the possibilities there.
All of this is in stark contrast to how many characters in Warcraft have been portrayed over the years. Most have bland personalities, if even that. Their motivations are hollow and are entirely centered on the story Blizzard wants to tell. Not on anything that feels real and meaningful to the character. In a world where this is the norm, Zul’jan is a breath of fresh air. He feels like part of a living world, and that is something we can be immersed in.

A dynamic on Zul’jarra is align with the loa and the Amani’s traditional views where Zul’jan is taking the approach of relying on strategy and self strength than rely on the loas help or others. Jan stood out from the rest that he isn’t someone who doesn’t shy away on what he has to say.
But the thing they have in common is they both love their tribe and willing to protect it and protect eachother, despite they butted heads. That’s how siblings are at times and could have been a something to delve into

Alright, I’ll take a crack at this.
Zul’jan is liked because he IS a person who has flaws, isn’t afraid of voicing his thoughts and wants his people to stand on their own feet because the Loa did abandon them. Jan may have not known t he reasons why but it does make sense to want his people to stand on their own, and if they have the support of the Loa back due to Jarra’s actions, that is ALL the better.
In short, he’s a character who’s nuanced, is seen more an anti-hero and isn’t afraid of the consequences come what may. Given the numerous Horde characters that have been killed throughout the years, people who LIKE Jan want him to stick around to grow and develop, to be a grounded voice to his sister as her adviser and be a supportive pillar since the Horde is lacking in development at the moment.
That’s the short of it for the most part.

Personally, I like him because he stands out. We’ve had a lot of blandly polite, reasonable people in this expac. Someone who is more abrasive and takes big risks is a fun contrast. And he still has largely heroic or at least sympathetic goals (depending on your stance on kicking blood elves in the seat of their pants).
I also like all the sheer salt his voice actor is cramming into his lines.

He’s a Troll and to certain parts of the community that means he is perfect and can’t do wrong and so they like him just for that, he could kill children and people would defend him

He stands out from the peace-and-understanding template every other protagonist seems to obey these days. He has understandable motivations given the Amani’s history. And he has actual character flaws (stubborn, angry, standoffish) unlike his boring and perfect sister.

It’s very simple.
He’s a guy who is messy and causes conflict but isn’t entirely wrong and he’s quite volatile about his feelings and this is a rarity among wow characters so people want him to stay around.
I would agree that villain batting and killing him off is a classice wow narrative mistake.

I could easily point you to many people going on right now about how making Zul’jan evil at all is wrong because he’s in the right for wanting to kill the elves and get his land back and that makes him morally right

I just couldnt see how anyone can think he wasnt gona be a villian or see how that doesnt make sence….
But I can agree wth the world building going on RN having a solid ground level guy to fall back on would of been a good idea !

Granted, he could head towards irredeemably naughty (and probably will), but right now he’s a grumpy little rascal whose plans inevitably backfire.

I like Zul’jan because he can be a great example of “politics make strange bedfellows”.
Blizzard conceptually understands characters putting aside their differences to fight a common enemy, but don’t execute it well. And while individual characters may acknowledge grudges, the overall narrative keeps sidelining everything into one big bland homogenization. On top of that, there is the element of guilt-tripping these characters as they learn to embrace Wow’s “new think”.
Instead of Zul’jarra, having the gradual softening of tensions between the Trolls and Elves is stronger when it comes from a character like Zul’jan. He won’t compromise what makes the Amani, the Amani. His love for the Amani is what so much of modern Wow’s characters and civilizations lack, a distinct cultural identity.
The end result would be an uneasy alliance between two parties that doesn’t trivialize or sacrifice what makes each faction unique.
I also feel bad for him constantly having to hear “all your history is wrong”.

I took it the opposite way. He’s not constantly being told his peoples history is wrong. He’s being told that he wasn’t told the ENTIRE TRUTH, and a lot of it was hidden away for good reasons, like Ula’tek, so nobody tries to summon her again and potentially destroy their clan and the world.
He’s the first character who actually acts like someone who exists on Azeroth instead of an actor reading off cue cards like everyone has been since BfA
