Hey I’m not gonna lie, the spaceship rail shooter in SWTOR was one of my favorite things about that game.

I’m sorry you got kicked for such small mistakes, but Blizzard pushes dungeons to be done quickly and reinforce a “GO GO GO” Mentality with world first races, and M+(Timed high difficulty dungeon runs) along with a comparatively bad feeling leveling experience to what it used to be; making people just want to level as fast as possible to get it over with.

This is further reinforced by if you don’t do current content and consume it quickly you fall behind, making it harder to get into current content in general. (Lower ilvl, groups often require inflated ilvl to get into runs for current content often requiring ilvl over that which said content drops.) along with achievements you can only get before another piece of content ‘unlocks’.

There is also Cross-realm zoning/groups, and sharding to blame for lack of any true server community to police itself and force out people that are rude and make it easier to get into guilds for newer players and those that are at the least respectful and nice to others. Sadly it seems very easy for people online to be rude to someone if they think they will never run into them again and there are no negative repercussions to being rude or kicking another player from a group or in general trolling.

Just keep at it, and try to find a friendly guild on your server with some active people that can help you out.

The behavior of kicking you for messing up is not toxic. Unless they personally insulted you or waited until you went to grab loot to do it, would be. The problem with tailing behind is people act like every dungeon is a speed run, that’s not toxic, that’s just a mindset people have , and I really think a lot of it comes from mobile gaming. People want instant results and just run and over pull and act like a regular dungeon is on a timer they have to beat. Blizzard only pushes for speed on mythics and some folks keep that mindset constantly.

4 other people doesnt cater to me = toxic.

Being rude to someone because you disagree with them = toxic.

Find a good guild and let them know you’re new, If the guild you join turns out to be a bad one for you simply /gquit in the chat window and continue until you find a guild that you fit in.
There’s still good people always wanting to help newcomers in this game you just have to find them.

you will learn yet op, complaining won’t do much good, especially on forums. Pick up your fragile pride and try again.

I actually really agree with this. I’ve had times where a tank had no clue where he was going in lower level dungeons and wasted our time. All it took was for the tank to speak up that he doesn’t know where he was going so we could help him and put him in the right direction.

You must be the kind of person who stands in the fire and complains that the healer didn’t heal you enough.

the wow forums are pretty much dead any way there are 2x more people on mmo champion and wow reddit.

Why are you doing dungeons if you just started playing 2 days ago ? You should get used to playing solo before you try those, i.e. learn on your own time.

MMO Champion is absolute garbage because of the garbage moderators.

no more different then wow forums you know how many times i have had posts shadow banned with the 404 error on these forums…lol

A few months ago, I saw a guy on MMO trolling people. Spouting off random insults, so I chose to ignore him. When he replied to one of my posts with an awkward insult, I reported him and didn’t reply. He did it a couple more times, so I messaged that sub-forum’s moderator to ask why he’s allowed to do that. The moderator actually told me that it was ok for him to troll me because I was not replying to him. I thought “huh?” I then contacted a blue admin about that. The blue admin said “I highly doubt a moderator told you that…” I thought “lol wanna bet?” and went to forward him the message. At that time during him reading my message, my inbox was magically purged of all messages from the first moderator. I stopped going that at that point. I don’t need that kind of shady crap.

Generally letting a group know you are new and/or working on a quest often eliminates that problem. There are two sides to this being new and being respectful of the other people’s time and investment.

One day we were doing a ‘speed run’ because as you get more gear heroics become faster and most if not all of the runs are blazed through. One of the players said “Hold on let me go back and get my Mom”. We stopped, we slowed down and it was indeed a teaching and helpful run.

It’s easy to just say the community is ‘toxic’ ‘elite’ or whatever but in most cases if you speak up you will find some of the nicest people out there. Not always… but generally.

I think at the end of the day you should take away from it and try to normalize yourself like your dungeon peers. Normally when I see people in no looms I don’t expect much from them but if I have one that’s a healer spam healing themselves and we wipe over and over again or they randomly run into boss and need to be rezzed over and over again I won’t be the one to throw up the vote kick but I will vote yes sorry to say

(1) that’s kind of naive, forums (everywhere) aren’t known for their flowers and sunshine

(2) historically I’d say these forums have been mostly positive … though things did take a dive after the presidential election

(3) a chunk of people just left or are playing the game less just now, the mobile development announcements were very disturbing to many (because it means disinvestment away from retail, BFA was released in late beta form, and classic is looking more and more like a significant safety net plan for blizzard)

so, yes some people are still enjoying the game but there’s a lot of grievances atm, way more than normal

this is what you just walked into

Toxic as ever. Just look at the snotty responses in this thread. I’ve quit doing dungeons because the douchebag population is out of control in Azeroth.

Welcome to the game and yes been this way for years. but the game is not more toxic than any other game. That being said you need to just follow the group and hit the 3 buttons bm has to do some dps.
