That’s just it. People are people. You can find both positive and negative experiences everywhere depending on how you yourself behave and your own values.
I’m on Siren. Have got queues.
Mateus is a preferred server at the moment which means it has a low number of active players. It also means more new players are signing up on it (oh boy they’re in for a surprise) which could also mean a queue but it is definitely low on active players.

I definitely think WoW should add player commendations similar to what FFXIV has. They feel nice to receive, motivate people to help one another, and reward that super tank/healer/carrying dps!
We have trade/general chats unlike FFXIV, so a bit easier to communicate/ask questions. Make another channel for new players, watch it transform into Thunderfury spam as well. It works for a game like FFXIV where you aren’t even supposed to link meters (if you even have them)…though I can’t imagine the enraged player that quits mid M+ is going to suddenly change their behavior.
OK, I think they call it weeb game (not entire sure myself)
For the sigma surrounding the Cat and Bunny ladies… or similar content
For example:
- The bunny ladies as starting armor use a plated lingerie taken as inspiration from a FF previous game yet well its hard not to stare hahah lol
- There is a way to get pants that make your butt larger…that basically look like female underwear
- Cat Ladies are often put dancing for “Lore reasons”
- And there is so much more… that I will not get into
(I was going to link some pictures but I was not sure if it be allowed)
I think its this types things is what got it that reputation…
as a WoW player it took me a while to get use to that…
There are also really hard core RPG people that… really get into character and not in the best way specially with the tiny kid looking race and the Big Guy races… its a bit unnerving but they quickly leave you alone as soon as they notice your not into er…anything they are…um how do i put this…anything they are “offering”.
I agree with you. Anytime I returned people were welcoming and if you were in a dungeon or raid for the first time, they weren’t being critical of me and actually helped explain mechanics and such.
Biggest reason is because there’s 0 repercussion in WoW, the terrible things I’ve said in battlegrounds over the last 10 years and not a single mute or suspension is testament to that.
This is very surprising to me considering Mateus was allegedly the destination for those people who couldn’t get to Balmung. I guess people are not logging in as much right now as there is no congested world in NA, not even Balmung. But I still find it weird for Mateus to go all the way to preferred.
The rules are very strict and also subjective so people who have been banned will sometimes just no longer talk in party chat and will instead vent on FC chat, linkshell chat, discord chat etc
That being said WoW’s toxicity is definitely higher, but it’s more that FFXIV just has little toxicity (relative) in general.
I mean I do think that DPS meters and logs are a big part of why the community is so toxic. I like logs as tools but not for competing with people and certainly not DPS meters since 9 times out of 10 its to show how someone else is trash because they’re doing X instead of Y DPS.
I experienced that friendliness when I first started that game.
I was just playing as normal… minding my own business and all, and a random veteran came up to me noticing that little spout icon next to my name (it lets folks know you’re new) and offered to help me around the game. She offered to be my mentor which offered me XP bonus and invited me to that newbie channel. She even followed up with me weeks later to see how I was doing.
Even while in dungeons, at the start the game lets the party know when someone (the character) hasn’t done it before. Someone always explained the mechanics without issue.
Agreed. I really don’t get it myself honestly because when I log Im just here to play the game story and get into character for fun.
I just mention what has been mention to me in FF14 and seen personally
Yea, people are crazy in that game. I mostly just sit in my FC house when i’m not doing anything lol.
It went from congested to preferred so quickly xD
Oh yeah let’s pretend WoW doesn’t have these ERP groups in the group finder.
novice network and mentor system is actually very toxic. having been a mentor before, its absolutely worthless. most are only in it for the crown and the channel is full of misinformation and player made rules.
The game’s graphics are far more realistic than WoW’s cartoony style too, so I also don’t see the “well its the anime style” thing. What anime style?
It just bugs me that that’s the reason people use for not trying the game. It’s so silly.
Depends on server, ours is actually mostly informative.
Each world has its own novice network. Some novice network’s are toxic and run by mentors like a clique, some are much nicer. That being said I think it’s better to join a guild/free company and ask them or friends for advice to be honest
I will say that I’ve removed a lot of the potential of toxicity in basically all of the mmo type games I play. I’m pretty selective about the parts of the community I participate with/in. So maybe that’s given me an unfair bias.
People in general are nicer in FF14. I have yet to have a player rage at me cause I was new to a fight, They actually give players time to reconnect vs wow where omg someones offline gotta kick them! People greet each other and welcome each other to groups.
Wow its omg pull faster, why is the dps so low, omg kick the afk and just so negative that nah.
