Community council

They cling to CC because they think it gives them clout.

The perception of the members as well as those looking at the group from the outside that it gives them some kind of social significance or power is the reason they receive blame for the WoW team’s internal mistakes.

That privilege to proclaim clout, superiority, and power (even power they do not have) is what they are trading WoW for protecting the WoW team from criticism.

If they believe that is a fair trade, then that’s their choice to make. I do not believe the trade is worth it considering the state of the social community within the game. What are you really ruling over, at the end of the day? The ecosystem is full of lone wolf individuals who will happily hurt each other over scraps.

Im not sure what introspective journey you went on to reach this conclusion.
None of this applies. I dont even think to a single CC member I know.

None of us are “shields” in any way.

I would love for you to validate anything of what you said.

I am not owned, operated, coerced, convinced to do anything I dont personally agree with.
Its the people that are so selfish and inside their own heads that think because a C.C. member disagrees or challenges perceptions that they must be a shill of some kind.

I have seen a lot of propoganda about this type of stuff. Its baseline dumb.

Responding in the context of this. If this context does not apply to you, then the post does not apply to you at all.

Agree to disagree here… whenever the CC receives blame for things it did not do that falsely directed frustration onto the CC is shielding WoW from having that frustration directed where it belongs.

I don’t think you’re a shill. I don’t think WoW engages with the CC enough for any kind of meaningful thought exchange to occur. Impossible to shill for something when you don’t know the company’s plans.

The speculation is due to lack of transparency. If transparency improves, so will the unfair treatment the CC receives. Until then, by your own admission, it’s a bunch of “propaganda” that means nothing and points blame at the CC when it should be applied elsewhere.

I fully support whatever you decide to do with your time. I believe you’re being treated in an unfair way due to how WoW has set up and interacted with the CC. It’s up to you what you decide to do moving forward. The only path to improving your experience is improved transparency from WoW, and any transparency the CC can provide to the community will clear up the speculation and false accusations.

There are difference when it comes to experience though. For example, would you trust someone’s input on raiding who has achieved CE for several raid tiers more or less than someone’s input who sometimes enters LFR? To claim that those opinions should carry the same weight is a bit silly.

That being said, when you apply for the CC program, they ask you about your experience on a lot of different topics, how much you engage in different areas of the game, and what you focus on when you play. Areas of focus can be raiding, m+, pvp or even things like transmog, pet battles, and crafting. The CC members don’t think they are better than anyone else, but experience absolutely matters when it comes to opinions about the game.

Would you trust the opinion of a random person’s just as much as that of a doctor whose field of expertise is relevant? I would hope not.

I’ve don’t think I’ve received backlash about mistakes by the WoW dev team, but I have definitely run into people who insult me simply because I’m in the CC. It’s weird that some people are that upset about it, but you just move on.

This is silly.

This is a game, not hospital, and everyone’s opinions matter equally. If the game doesn’t feel right to a new player and they quit right out the gate, that’s not a good thing is it?

i still don’t know what they do now lol. again, the only time you see a cc out in the wild is these topics that pertain to them and they defend themselves. it never fails lol.

Ah, so we should trust the opinion of a level 10 player who has never stepped inside of a raid about raiding as much as we trust the opinions of people who actually raid?

I’m sorry, but no. And that’s not being elitist, that’s just going purely off experience. If they have absolutely zero experience on something, what are they basing their opinion off of?

Yeah it is being an elitist because you’re implying that only the end game matters.

The noob game also matters because that noob won’t turn into an elite if they don’t like the noob experience. They’ll just quit.

You must not be on the forums very often then. I post quite frequently except when I’m traveling or away in a variety of threads.

Never have I once said that only end game matters. I’m talking about having relevant experience to a specific topic when taking opinions.

I’m not sure what is so hard to understand about that.

no i seen you around especially in those battle net topics a few years back and it wasn’t a good look at what the cc is ngl.i guess anyone can be a cc lol.

You’re the one that keeps bringing up raiding and how you can’t trust a new player’s opinion on raiding. Both of your replies to me has brought up the end game like that is the only thing that matters.

Then you moved the goal post to a new player being level 10 when I never said anything about anyone being level 10. We both know that doesn’t have to be the case since the xpac comes with a 70 boost. A new player can be a raider with only a week’s worth a play.

Your “experience” means jack to me and to the rest of the community.

I dont really believe anyone in the cc 2nd wave did it for clout. That was long gone and to some point I applied because I was curious. For me it has simply been another forum where you could have better discussions and for topics to not get buried. It’s not really about an opinion being better but being able to discuss it in a more constructive way which require some filter. Id be more than happy if this was something more people would have access.

So you guys get your own super special forum where you get to have better discussions because they’re not buried and they’re filtered but yet…

Right….

I read the forums and discuss with people, often what I say there is the result from those discussions. There are people from very diverse backgrounds which makes it so it’s not like one opinion or point of view only matter.

A few years back? What topic was that? Are you talking about the ones where people wanted anonymous posting on the forums because those were less than a year ago. Otherwise, I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Also, that means that your other statement was a lie, which isn’t a good look either my guy.

I was using raiding as a specific example, nothing more. It could be pvp, it could be pet battling, it doesn’t matter.

My point is that the opinion of someone who does not engage with something doesn’t have as much weight as those that do, regardless of skill level. I’m really unsure how you’re failing to understand that.

I’m not the one that’s failing to understand anything.

My point has been that all opinions matter. A new person’s view on pvp is just as important as a veterans because both kinds of players will experience it.
