Common IC viewpoints you just don't get

I just imagine Kalec being that “Send me a picture of you in the hospital” meme now using various tools in Dalaran to pretend like he’s in intense medical care.

He probably is in the hospital, it takes a lot of botox to keep his face looking just like it did in 2007. He has to make sure to keep both polygons just the way they are.

There’s a Night Elf vegetarian in Ashran.

But Ashran isn’t the best source for anything.

this could probably mean that vegetarianism is a choice among the races of azeroth rather than a cultural thing.

i play a vegetarian tauren and i get the “you know tauren aren’t vegetarians” thing a lot, but i point out that my tauren gave up meat for various reasons and it’s her personal choice, not a tauren cultural tradition.

Who on an RP server has their head so far up their own starfish that they can accept most things but a tauren that goes vegetarian my god that can’t be a thing. Come along Black Dragon Girlfriend currently in the form of half-goblin, half-harpy, let us retire to my sky castle and away from this god-mode trash tauren.

Also weird because while yeah Tauren do eat meat, they are modeled on an animal that doesn’t. So if anything the vegetarian tauren are probably what most people in the world think cow people would be eating lol.

The literally everything else about Azeroth there is to raise an eyebrow at, and THAT’S a problem for someone?

people think that i’m insinuating that all tauren are vegetarian with my character lol. it’s less “you can’t be vegetarian” and more “hey you know tauren can eat meat” (since admittedly there are a sect of RP’ers who play vegetarian tauren/night elves and insist that they HAVE to be vegetarians) and my response is always “yes, i know, it’s a personal choice.”

I don’t know if anyone would give the same response to a blood elf or goblin vegetarian just because there aren’t the people who insist that blood elves or goblins are culturally vegetarian, for instance.

Goblins are culturally vegetarian?! They eat and drink literal garbage. We have actual quests and dialogue about this.

I can appreciate headcanon as much as anyone, but when it becomes so restrictive that it becomes fragile, it’s hard to stomach.

Dwarf characters whose entire existents is based around drinking. Will never get it, but it doesn’t bother me either, if that makes any sense.

I HAVE BEEN THINKING THAT FOR SO LONG!
Like was one dragon just mid bust and went. “Ohhh sorry babe, think we just lost our ability to be a species.”
I don’t know if that’s still the case with maybe some retcons but that has always been like the greatest question to me and if I can go to blizzcon next year I will stand there for as long it takes just to ask them that question and thats on the Light!

One elf. Okay.

That doesn’t change any of the observations about Darnassian culture, or the prevalence of the stereotype.

I don’t think there are any markedly vegetarian societies in WoW. Some elves get labeled that, but it feels less like a “elves do this” and more like a “the developer forgot if elves could do this or not and just winged it.”

Hey, you nailed their internal writing philosophy!

This is literally every iteration of titan powered planetary guardians. They all sod off and do their own thing, leaving Azeroth holding the bag.

I’ll cheat a bit and say The Purge of Dalaran. It really sucks that Aethas had no legitimate way to escape the ends of 2 extremes and opted to fall back on Jaina’s bad side rather than risk letting Garrosh know about his interference. The dude gets the end of the short stick and loses a good chunk of The Sunreaver population and his position on the Council while Jaina just gets a sort of slap on the hand for going outside of their jurisdiction and dropping martial law.

Jaina is getting close to comics Scarlet Witch levels of dodging consequence.

I’d just like to know how Jaina got so ridiculously powerful.

A popular headcannon seems to be that she’s using the Thunder-King-infused staff, but

  1. that staff has an entirely different ingame model
  2. her powers don’t appear any more lightning-y, or show any visual indicators that her powers might be coming from a new source
  3. said staff hasn’t been mentioned at all since Mists

If you’re going to make a very prominent character be so much more powerful than other mages that they panic and flee from her there should be a clearly indicated reason for that, I think. If not a magic weapon then maybe a ritual similar to the one that creates Guardians?
