I think it is that Orc RP’rs, admittedly because of backstory in how its presented in the 3rd game and WoW, act with some degree of righteous indignation towards the Alliance. Like, especially over the Camps given that had the Horde won the 2nd War much worse would have happened to the alliance than an internment camp.
Knowledge of the 1st and 2nd game/ Wars is lacking.
That sort of attitude annoys me, but I’m even more annoyed that Blizzard has worked so hard to justify it.
The faction war is a race war (and BOY does that have some implications I don’t want to get into), and races as a whole are too often treated like homogenous, hive-minded masses that just… sort of go along with whatever their faction is doing at any given moment. They might disagree, or even dissent (in a vague, non-committal sort of way), but if the guy with the unique model says jump then everyone’s still gonna jump.
I was going somewhere with this, I think, but I’ve lost my train of thought now. Anyway, dissolve the factions, Blizzard can’t write, orcs are kiss on sight, etc.

This isn’t helped by the fact that the first and second games, the first especially, have been retconned to hell and back to help form the Warcraft story we all know today. Stormwind isn’t the Kingdom of Azeroth anymore, Moonbrook isn’t in Elwynn, and Garona isn’t half human anymore, to name just a few things. Warcraft started life as a retooled Warhammer game, after all.
Eh… I’ve enaged in stranger pursuits…
…and succeed.

Man I don’t want some janky Garithos novel because you know they’re going to say he was actually justified in the end because some elf rando put his wife in a microwave or whatever

I mean, it would be nice to see an out-and-out villain’s perspective, especially if it cuts away to why Garithos got away with the shizzle he did, what Dalaran was thinking, what his troops, Human and otherwise, were thinking and doing, and can even tie it into the current story.
Would be hilarious if the Dreadlords, playing the Legion by making them think they were ‘loyal’ to the Burning Crusade but actually pushing it to attack and weaken Azeroth, while simultaneously weakening and over-extending themselves against the Children of Azeroth, the Titan Watchers, the Old Gods and the Army of Light etc, and they think “Hmmm, how can we destabilize things even further?” and look at Garithos.
And it is just like “…Well. Look, just give this guy a promotion and clear the board of people who’d say no to him. That’s all we need to do with this hot mess of a Mortal …”
…
Holy shizzle, will we get to find, and punch, Garithos’s soul in the Maw?
For bonus points, I want us to use his soul to save Kael’thas from something and to just hear this ethereal shriek of outrage, like a thin, wet helium fart, as his eternal existence stats to snuff out to save an Elf.

If Garrosh is the anima equivalent of an old reliable work horse in Revendreth, then Garithos must be something like a nuclear power plant to them.

I question if Ximothy has fully done the Argus quest line, because what they are saying IS NOT what was shown.
People come to the conclusion that Turalyon was a fanatic because he was shown to be a fanatic.
He allowed Alleria to be locked up, and in the cinematic his expression was pure obsession when Xe’ra addressed him.
Turalyon 100% was taking Xe’ra’s word as fact.
It wasn’t until later in the campaign that Velen pulled him aside and told him the truth.

And when Xe’ra died, his eyes changed from gold, to brown, and since then he’s been saying an awful lot of stuff which Ximothy has quoted, which make it clear he’s not a fanatic.

I would only accept that as “not a fanatic anymore”.
But you’re implying he wasn’t just blinded, but basically mind controlled.

He was definitely doing it up when addressing Xe’ra. I like to imagine all the Draenei in the room looking at him like ‘Dude CHILL. None of that is necessary.’
Also shout out to Velen for immediately handing you a broom and telling you to sweep up what was left of her.

I mean, we can get into the nitty gritty of it if you want, trying to find the appropriate label somewhere in a spectrum between, ‘Blinded,’ and, ‘Mind Controlled,’ when I’m not sure either has an appropriate definition for what happened with Turalyon.
My point is that Turalyon isn’t a fanatic. Was he influenced in such a way that certain events were, if not acceptable, at least tolerable? Certainly. But he’s not a fanatic. That word I would argue is more appropriately applied to the Scarlet Crusade, and you simply cannot compare Turalyon to the Scarlet Crusade.
