I am wondering if anyone knows whether or not it is a bug, or if it is intentional, that when you switch pets say from a Tenacity to a Cunning pet that the command pet function takes a few seconds to change the ability and be castable.
I would like it to switch immediately and be usable, but yeah, doesn’t seem to work that way.
I would guess it’s deliberate as a deterrent to quickly swapping different pets to utilize their various family abilities for specific situations, etc.
As far as I can tell it’s just a normal thing with how the ability needs to check the spec and rewrite the previously loaded version. Since the game is running in real-time, it simply waits to re-sync instead of lagging your entire character or reloading the UI. Expecting everything to be instantaneous is a bit unrealistic.
If you tried to force speed over performance you might be able to bug the ability and cast the previously loaded version before it verifies the spec and reloads the spell. Obviously Blizzard wouldn’t want that to happen.
This is worse for MM, due to Lone Wolf.
While I’m on my flying mount (the pet disapears) Command Pet changes automatically to Survival of the Fittest. Then when I land and drop the mount, it takes several seconds to switch to, say, Primal Rage.
Nothing terrible, but a little bit annoying.
at what level does command pet instant work period ive tried everything to get it to work on my Earthen to no avail so i can set the choice ive made.
it should be fully operational at level 48 when you learn primal rage. before that, iirc, when you have a ferocity pet out it’ll just display the default “command pet” that does nothing when pressed
(there’s also master’s call learned at 28, six levels after command pet, but since that’s not a particularly big gap, i’m gonna assume we’re talking primal rage)
