Is there any reason why the floor has to be same color as circle or mechanic indicator. What is the purpose?
It doesn’t have to be but it does amuse Steve the Unpaid Accounting Intern.
No, it does not HAVE to be the same/similar color. However, it appears to amuse the powers that be to have it that way, and it is very confusing to certain players. I can recall green on green, orange amid swaths of orange flames, and so on. For certain players who have visual challenges, it makes things extra hard. I imagine the devs laugh at us.
Whenever we get a raid or dungeon where the spell effects are a different color than the entire room, an angel gets its wings
My favorite is when the floor is uneven and their “new and better display for ground effects” get buried under the terrain.
basically, its incompetent designers.
in TWW there was still some pretty bad visual clutter, same colors on same color mechanics, but it was by far the best they had ever made mechanics visible.
now in midnight it seems they have reverted to their old ways, making everything a clump of one color or mashed together, making seeing anything near impossible.
bingo.
you think the designers play this slop on their spare time? if they did, would it still be purples stacked on purples with a purple projectile/beam from the boss, and purple danger zones?
people been sayin this was corny for a while and they still do it!
Lets play a game; match the developer to their encounter design.
Developer A: A Blizzard developer
Developer B: Any other human
Encounter design 1:
You have 4 seconds to click on the odd colored hearts:
Encounter design 2:

You NAILED it!
I hate fights like that, and also dislike the color white being used as spell effect color we need to dodge or watch out for. It’s very unnoticeable compared to other colors with wows graphics as they always seem to give it a wispy like effect paired with it. It’s just doesn’t translate as clearly.
At least for me. Could also be a just me thing. Haha
The only time this has even vaguely been an issue for me has been lura in seat of the triumvirate. Where exactly is this so problematic?
Distinct floor makers and mechanic indicators are one of the things Blizzard should just steal straight up from FFXIV. In that game, if you die from standing in a death puddle it’s because you didn’t move out in time, not because you couldn’t see it in the first place.
Don’t forget they also hand you a trinket that causes a pool to form at your feet…that is usually a darker shade of the same floor and encounter colors and hides them very well.
And then there are all of the friendly floor buffs…that blend together to make a kaleidoscope of color that you don’t know if you should be in it or not.
Maybe use shapes, or patterns, or different colors…something.
don’t even get me started on losing my curser to all the busy slop going on in the screen….good god, what the heck!
