Colonization of Azsuna and other areas

So I don’t ever expect to see it in game, but could it be mentioned that the Night Elves colonize/recolonize Azsuna? Legion is gone, might as well move in right? Well, when the Scourge invasion is over, of course.

Same for Northrend and the Dwarves/Gnomes/Humans. And where would the Draenei colonize? I mean, sure they could stay on those two islands for good, but surely they’ll want to expand? I wonder if Stormheim might be another option. Plenty of places to choose!

What do you guys think about former zones being mentioned as places for races that have been diminished?

Edit: Operate under the impression that there is a lasting peace between the Factions if you would. I think that would make things more comfy at least.

As a self admitted Horde Partisan, I see reason in just allowing the Alliance to have Azuna. Heck, cede all claims in some diplomatic effort as a gesture of goodwill.

If I had an audience with the Horde Council, I would say:

The Horde has firm holdings in Highmountain as well as Suramar. We do not want to over extend ourselves. Meanwhile, consider the occupants of Azuna:

The Corporeal Spirits of Night Elves - like wisps but with swords and armor.

The Blue Dragons - distant cousins of Jaina’s favorite Dragon Bone, Kalec.

Disparate Demons and Undead that Horde Demon Hunters and Forsaken might find a use for.

With all due respect to the Forsaken and Demon Hunters, I think we can find more chattel for you. Let the Alliance settle and claim Azuna. Fighting for it seem folly.

It could happen but I’d imagine the Night elves probably don’t want to spread themselves too thin now, plus Hyjal was been the true home of the nelf population for millenia, and I believe they’d mostly resettle there.

As for Northrend, the Horde probably shouldn’t let the alliance colonize it without creating their own colonies, simply because an expanded alliance presence will probably mean bad things for their Taunka allies (and hypothetically all 4 or so surviving Drakkari trolls, if they’re horde/zandalar allied now)

I’m operating under the fantasy of lasting peace between Horde and Alliance, so tit for tat would hopefully not occur in great measure. What regions specifically would you want the Horde to colonize in Northrend, if said peace existed?

Goodness, how gracious. But surely the Nightborne will want some room to grow finally too? Where would you think is best for them to start new settlements? Just retaking the lands surrounding Suramar? Or perhaps other regions?

I think the Nightborne under the command of Thalyssra would be content with Suramar and the Horde’s territory. I don’t see why they would become expansionists. They have their own native territory.

The Zandalari might lend aid to Troll tribes all over Azeroth, but the Nightborne seem content.

The only place the night elves should colonize is Ogr in blood

You know I just now took another look at how much territory Suramar actually has… More than I remembered. Fair point.

So what if the Night Elves DID destroy the Horde utterly? What areas outside of Kalimdor would you like to see Night Elf settlements in? Perhaps it is because I just was there, but Azsuna seems like a pretty great place once the demonic corruption is removed. Not to mention being a large part of NE history.

I think Hyjal would be the perfect location. It’s all calm there these days I assume?

Azsuna still has people “living” there, it’d be a real **** move to come in and shove them out in the name of the living. Hyjal is where the Darnassian night elves have officially relocated to, it’s just not reflected in game.

Not sure about Hyjal, but what about Felwood? Especially with the Legion weakened.

I don’t really see what would be satisfying about colonizing Azsuna. Northern Kalimdor is more important.

Personalty, i would 100% go for zul’drak but that must be because of my dream of having the remaining of all troll empire into the horde.

The whole region of suramar is big enough for just retaking all of it. In fact, considering the state of the nightborn and suramar city after legion, just completely restoring Suramar would already be a good step.

Well, the native ghosts might not be too keen on having their kingdom of the dead taken over by the lowborne… they would honestly have more in common with the Nightborne, and Suramar is better prepared to attempt to claim such a region than the Kaldorei are… its kinda just in their back yard.

TBH They can keep Azuna if we can just Dalaran style teleport Heist the Moonguard Keep to Northern Kalimdor because I seriously adore that place.

Northrend has been the box the scourge was stuffed in since the end of Arthas, not really a place you wanna settle down likely.

…I somehow think the Vrykul would object.

Odyn would just want Valor so them being driven out means nothing as long as some died gloriously in battle!

The Vrykul would of course now have rivals but Odyn wouldn’t be a problem! He’d be hosting tournaments for any combatants in the area naturally.

Vast majority of Azsuna is bereft of even the undead. Decent amount, to be sure, but plenty of room for others. And the current occupants being undead Elves would likely not mind ancestors coming to live around them wouldn’t likely be too unhappy. Just think of them being able to see children again! Potentially happy spirits.

For many NEs I’m sure, but what about the Mage NEs? I remember the brother and sister that went looking for their parents in Azsuna. I feel it would be akin to reclaiming or getting in touch with your history.

People keep saying Hyjal as the place for NEs, but I’m not sure the zone really is well suited for it… but perhaps I am thinking too much like a human.

Fascinating. Zul’drak wouldn’t be my pick, but adding whatever Drukkari left into the fold would sure be neat.

I realized that later when I popped open my world map. Agreed.

Perhaps, though again I would point out that the Court of Farondis and other such groups of undead elves are a relatively small bunch in the whole of Azsuna. But you may be right. Definitely Moonguard Keep. Just re-explored that place and it is awesome.

This is under the notion that all the big threats are gone, no faction conflict and no Scourge. Grizzly Hills and Howling Fjord looking mighty fine.

You mean the Valarjar? That tiny minority of Vrykul that occupy the smallest locations in Stormheim? Meh, maybe. Still would like to see humans move into Stormheim in some regard.

Good stuff folks. Glad to hear others’ opinions.

That might just be it.

Technically, Ashenvale is their heartland, Hyjal is the thing that their civilization after the War of the Ancients pretty much existed to protect. Control over that heartland is in question, but if it wasn’t (in a favorable direction), you’re talking about supporting a colony on pretty much the other side of the world.

That is actually wrong. Hyjal was the night elf capital and ashenvale is the hunting place that night elf never really settle in. They just protected it for thousand of years and calling in their ‘‘ancestor’’ land.

A heartland is not the same thing as the capitol city - which by the way was Nighthaven until we lost that to neutrality.

Stop trying to keep Ashenvale. It never belonged to you.

Hyjal, Winterspring, Felwood, Ashenvale and Darkshore should be where the night elves settle.

Sure sure, that is where they SHOULD be, but I still would enjoy hearing of Nelf settlers in places like Azsuna. Mind you this is partly out of my desire to explore the world before the Sundering.

A good example might be the United States, whose heartland is nowhere near the capitol.

Also:

I’m not certain they’d need much support in a world where there is no Legion, no Scourge, and no Faction Conflict. I’m also presupposing the ability to efficiently clear the land before settling of things like local threats and wildlife.

It seems as if alot of people can’t seem to get away from viewing Azeroth through the Faction Conflict. That’s bad news bears to my ears. I want to see Dwarves setting up underground cities in Northrend, Humans cultivating land in Stormheim(the not mountain parts), and non-High Elves resettling some of the old Empire. I also, of course, want to see places that were cleared of their inhabitants rebuilt and repopulated, like Corlain. (or however you spell the name of that town in Drustvar)

I won’t get to see it from Blizzard, but it is nice to think about for me. I’ll get to see it in person someday anyhow.
