This topic has been posted before but to varied answers and I was wondering if I could get a current opinion on my first Havoc Legendary. I will be playing mostly PvP and Solo content and can craft one of these super amazing abilities this week with my Soul ash.
Collective Anguish seems like a safer all around Choice but a Chaos Theory build sounds a little more Dynamic and perhaps more damage in PvP situations.
Any recommendations on the choice you crafted first and if you regretted it?
If you’re not fully geared get the darkness leggo.
Tren and Melan both are running CA constantly. I think Mvq likes CT. Personal preference probably once you’re higher up.

Chaos Theory is an all-around strong leggo. Makes chaos strike hit harder and gives a lot more eyebeam procs. If you like running the demo build, I very highly recommend this build.
CT Lego doesn’t interact with Eyebeam…your Talent of Cycle of hatred does.
If my focus was PVP, I would have crafted the Darkness Lego first.

Interesting thoughts! It sounds like most of you are crafting either the Darkness Lego or the Chaos Theory. I eventually want to craft them all myself but I need to pace myself since the others will be several weeks away.
Appreciate all the input so far!!
Chaos Digits (Chaos Theory) legendary: Blade Dance has 30% chance to grant Chaotic Blades, increasing damage of Chaotic Strike by 50% and its chance to refund Fury by 60%.
Combine that with Cycle of Hatred talent: When Chaos Strike refunds fury, it reduces the cooldown of Eyebeam by 3s.
Chaos Theory gives Eye Beam an average CD of something like 14 seconds, so you’re almost always in demon form. It is absolutely fantastic for demo build. It might not buff Eye Beam directly, but it makes it so you have an eye beam up quite often.
Collective Anguish is the first leggo I made, and once I made Chaos Digits I never went back. CT gives better sustained and single target damage, and it’s mechanically more fun (I think) than Collective Anguish.
How’s the dps loss from dumping fury on blade dance instead of chaos strike?

I mean, I don’t have any numbers specifically, but it would likely be considerable, considering the cost of blade dance, and it’s lack of a chance to refund fury.
And this is in the case that you’re NOT using Chaos Theory/Blade Dance Build
Pretty sure everyone will be using burning wound here in a few weeks. 100% dot time with increase immo aura. Can get the dot rolling on multiple targets. All around more dmg. Will see I guess
That’s what it seems to me too which is a shame. Glad i didn’t max my CT because I’ll be able to make a 235 BW once the patch goes live if it sims high
I use collective anguish pretty exclusively in torghast and m+, even during tyrannical weeks.
In pvp I’m either using chaos theory or darkest hour, depending on whether I think more damage or more survivability is best for the situation.
In raids, it of course depends on the damage profile of the fight. For example, you’re going to be using chaos theory on Lady Darkvein, and Collective Anguish on Sun King. If I were you, I’d check warcraft logs to see what the highest parsing HDH’s use, and just copy them. That’s what I do, and I parse in the 95-99 range.
Good luck!
That’s a good call Swearwordz! I am thinking I’m going to be crafting my Chaos Theory first then pooling the rest of my Soulash in case I need to save for Burning Wound later. If not that then I will focus on Anguish after. I appreciate all the tips everyone!!
Get them both, 190 atleast. But chaos theory will be your main focus to get to 235 if you’re doing pvp and raiding. Collective anguish is arguably only decent for some boss fights in raid and overall really good only in mythic dungeons. Most high parsers on CN raids are from chaos theory with exception to a few bosses that are ad/two boss fights
I personally went with with Chaos. Could be used for either single target build or Eyebeam build. I’ll have several weeks to figure out if I like it.
So far, I’ve run it with both setups and I really enjoy the eyebeam/cycle/demonic style. I swapped to trail of ruin, since I’m dumping fury into chaos strike. When it procs, it’s amazing. It lasts 8 seconds…which is a looong time when you have haste from both demonic and eyebeam. You can essentially burn eyebeam cool down away, right into another eyebeam followed by blade dance at full fury…
Blade dance cool down is about 8 seconds…so it fits nicely
Anguish is also more universal, since it works in Vengeance. OP’s focus is PVP, and rated Bgs VDH is more accepted then Havoc. If you only have one Lego, CT does squat for VDH.
Chaos Theory - PvE single target DPS, First Blood / Trail of Ruin build
Collective Anguish - PvE multi-target and tanking
Darkness Lego - PvP and tanking
I do not use Collective Anguish as Havoc simply because both specs are high dps multi-target and Chaos Theory is so much better single target.
I tanked with collective anguish and found it lacked. With a full minute cooldown on fel devastation and only a 20% chance of the proc, it’s entirely possible to go an entire boss fight without the leggo proccing. Anguish was less cringe inducing on havoc because of the higher number of eyebeams used (much shorter cooldown), but I still found it to be a rather boring leggo. If I did more tanking, I’d rather get a tank-specific leggo and keep Chaos Digits. Digits is a lot more fun and reliable, and better st dps.
My first leggo was Collective Anguish at R1 then Firey Brand and Razelikh’s. Being a Kyrian Vengence at the time. I’m Fae Havoc for raiding as DPS now.
I’m juggling getting Chaos Theory and Collective up to Rank 4. I’ll probably level Chaos first since the bosses we’re progging on are more ST focused.
Collective Anguish has 100% proc rate when you use fel devastation.
