Collecting and Dress up

Has the International Coalition of Paladins called for the banning of the OP yet? If not I would like to make the motion that we ban the OP forthwith and most rapidly. We as a class do not need this kinda of negativity in the game.

I imagine they have already been banned, that’s why they are acting out on an alt.

Coming from an alt. Lmao.

I can’t even play a new alt if I can’t mog it just right. Or even worse, can’t click with the name.

You are pretty much confirming me. It was the GAME of that era but it was never main stream at that time. People who did not play games did not know what WOW was.

WoW had television advertisements in the 2000s.

I never would’ve thought WoW would be under Microsoft’s proverbial wing.

According to what source? MMOpop? Twitch viewers? Population of characters that only do one sort of content while ignoring the rest? MAU’s?

Funny, i remember don’t buying gold nor running top content… but i guess in your mind you wouldn’t count that.

Gear.

I don’t see the problem with any of the things you said, especially since some of these things existed since far back as Vanilla. They are rewards for… Gasp… playing the game.

Have you never played Pre-Cata? I mean was Collecting currency, gear and so on was not a thing in Vanilla, TBC and Wrath? i’ve never played even 1/4 of cata and even i know that. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It’s almost like you don’t need other people to validate your collection in order to be happy with it. :open_mouth: :open_hands: :rainbow:

Newsflash, you’re just pixels even before that.

And the sense of accomplishment is subjective.

Friends, raiding, rping, pet battling, lore, their characters, investment even, i mean people have their reasons. Just because you dislike the game, doesn’t mean the people doesn’t have a valid reason to stay. Heck, they don’t even need a reason to stay, they can do whatever they want. Plain and Simple.

Like what? ESO? GW2? FF14?

Why not you go over to those better options then if you think there’s better options then?

Well you’re playing the game now…

I have a friend that pretty much just plays the game for dress up. It is disturbing tbh.

Sounds like you’re a coward, whoever you are.

I can tell you that Leeroy Jenkins was a mainstream meme. I heard people talking about it in high school that hadn’t touched a video game in their life.

Everyone knew what WoW was, I promise you.

You’re wrong though, you’re trying to say that all 10 million players at the time were hardcore gamers who loved and were invested in WC oldschool lore? :joy: a very large amount of players back then never made it to max level because they werent gamers, they were very casual non gamers giving wow their very first game a try because it was trendy and everyone else was playing it

Most of my early friends quit wow because turns out they didn’t really like videogames

It was a well known joke back then how many housewives had taken up WoW lol

I raided with a fair few of them.

Does anyone remember these?

Yea sure, Vanilla had 10 mil palyers. Good come back, you must be a genius.

From what you’ve written, it would seem that you aren’t currently playing WoW.

But you are taking the time and effort to inform millions of people who enjoy things like pet battles, transmog, and mount collecting, that they are engaging in “ridiculous” behavior at a “theme park” that lack any “sense of accomplishment”.

You took time out of your day to express that sentiment toward many thousands (and probably millions) of people who are enjoying themselves.

What motivated you to do that?

Would you say that to someone in person?

What sort of reaction would you expect?

I am having a really good time playing the parts of WoW that I enjoy.

You don’t pay my sub, and your opinion means absolutely nothing to me.

and Jocks lmao, it was one of the games, that set a standard of more people than just nerds in basements playing video games.

I understand why some people don’t want to admit it, the realization that we used to be the “cringe” ones is very offputting :stuck_out_tongue:

  1. Say something really rude for no reason.

  2. Witness someone characterizing your facially rude behavior as rude.

  3. Call the totally reasonable person who is just calling a rude apple a rude apple “sensitive”.

  4. Tell your mom you will not be cleaning your room today.

even mainstream news organizations would station outside of gamestops and look at the massive lines on expansion night or make BEWARE VERY BAD GAME news lines.

You’re getting unnecessarily defensive.

It’s a simple fact for those of us that remember the 2000’s that WoW was a mainstream game. It’s one of the games that made gaming as mainstream as it is today. The South Park episode over it is one of the most popular ones they’ve ever done.

You realize WoW was popular because it was NOT another ESO copy right? Being a hardcore game was never WoW’s biggest draw, ever… especially not in the early 2000s when it debuted (because that market was saturated, every game was trying to be the next impossible mode that was ESO).

WoW currently has set itself back 10 or so years by trying to draw several demographics that it was never meant for like: Esports proplayers (a few years AFTER Esports were a popular thing), hardcore raiders, battle royale PVPers (players of Fortnite and similar games), etc…

The phrases: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” and “Be yourself” certainly come to mind…

It always has been, they just made it easier to cater to those who indulge in such activities.

I for one would have lost interest in this game years ago if it wasn’t so.
