If Blizzard wants to move on from the escalating cosmic power arc, there’s only one reasonable way to end it all:
Elune
Yes, I know. Such a new idea. Look at my character, I’m so biased. blah, blah, blah. But. It’s the right way to close the loop and move on. Please hear me out.
If Blizzard wants to ‘soft reset’ the lore, then:
Xal’atath tries to corrupt/become Azeroth.
Iridikron breaks the Titan world engines.
Most of the titans must sacrifice themselves to stop the corruption.
Xal succeeds anyway.
The Twist
Eonar was never a Titan. She is the other half of Elune.
Titans did some nonsense 25,000 years ago. They messed with Elune just like they did with the Shadowlands and the Earthen, memory/identity alteration included.
The Titans are now truly gone. The 2 halves of Elune can reunite as a gestalt goddess and stop Xal’atath in The Last Titan final raid cinematic.
Shadowlands’ garbage lore is resolved.
Elunaria mystery solved.
Elune is back to the deity She always was.
We finally get to see Her. [EDIT: See her. Once. Not meet her and end all mystery.]
Perfect ending that goes back to the beginning. No new cosmic threat.
We return to exploring a changing Azeroth. Oh! And the Raid tie-in:
During our final fight with Xal’atath, the last Titan seal on Elune’s power is released - The Tear of Elune. Xal’s own power shatters it. Clean transition into the final cinematic. The Tear never made sense as a Titan artifact. Now it does. The connection to the Naaru/Light’s Heart now makes sense as well.
I have so many other ideas, but I’d love to hear people’s thoughts. Sargeras, Denathrius, devourers - how do they fit in? Did I miss something huge? Why does this not work for you as an end to the cosmic power story arc?
