I, too, was surprised and disappointed to find that alts didn’t get the full benefit. I feel like this was the mesaging Blizzard had. As an example, at +55% XP on my main, I created an alt that had (IIRC) +9% XP. That’s really not a lot. At +100% XP I’ll test with a new alt and see if the already created alt has more “potential” or if that +9% is locked in at creation.
But yeah, i came to the same conclusion: don’t even touch alts until your “main” is level 70 if you want to maximize your effort.
I’m still not sure what the best way to farm threads is. Anecdotally, heroic raids seem to give a ton. I’m not sure abou theroic dungeons of challenge modes.
I haven’t made another timerunner yet, but I planned to — So reading this is rather disappointing
I’m rather indecisive on what class to make — even more so on what race to choose (one for best flavour, or an Allied race for heritage gear!?) not to mention the time spent contemplating the name …
So yeah, having bridges to time between characters helps.
Hopefully they improve upon it.
It’s dependent on the Infinite Power achievement you have from collecting threads, up to Infinite Power XI (XII just gives the special effect toys). Infinite Power XI grants all your other characters on your account 150 primary statistic (Strength, Agility, or Intellect dependent on specialization), 750 Stamina, 150 Versatility, and 100% experience gain. Would it be better if the cloak was account-wide and fully shared progress? Yes.
I can’t confirm or deny that as I reached level seventy on my Monk before ever making another Timerunning character, though since the achievements are what give the cloaks their upgrades I think those rumors are false.
Remember that BS Blizz vomited out about improving communications? Sure would’ve been nice to have had the cloak change communicated on reddit, or twitter, OR ON YOUR OWN GOD DAMNED FORUMS?
Same, I have all classes at 70 retail but I planned on leveling some allied races. Unless they do a big buff that won’t happen… but based on plunderstorm they take feedback at least
When it comes to communications, if a lot of people believed something different to reality, then you have failed in your messaging. Like I watched some PTR Remix play on Twitch and had no idea about this and the vast majority will never have read about or seen any PTR play.
This BTW was the same issue with Plunderstorm: the real issue was that BlizzRd hyped up 10.2.6 as some big WoW event so when a completely different game came out with some WoW skins in it, people were disappointed because expectations, based on Blizzard’s own messaging, didn’t match reality.
As an aside, I’d go as far as saying PS was objectively bad beause nobody would play it if there weren’t WoW rewards but that’s a separate issue.
Back to Remix, some people thought they’d have MoP talents. I knew it was retail in MoP but many didn’t. Again, this points to a communications failure.
Yep, I knew it was retail class/specs/talents but only because I had read some article and watched some streams of PTB.
Just based on reading the official press release this isn’t what I would have expected.
Actually even now it isn’t what I expected. I thought raids would be doable while leveling, then you could grind these busted meta gems to just become wrecking balls later on
Yes but they don’t actually give exp, although they do give an experience buff I think.
And in regards to the second part unless they change scaling it does not seem like we’ll ever actually be OP, we need these gems just to keep our character up in dungeons
At 70 with all achieves you get 100% exp, a bunch of stam, some main stat and vers. Thats it. all 0s for the rest. Anything you gain on the alt has no effect on any other character.
