This is a mini rant/cry for help. So if I use Click Casting and bind my right mouse click, I just can’t interact with portraits anymore? I could not find a keybind in the menus to fix this. I am completely frustrated. Please just tell me I am overlooking something obvious.

In the top of Blizzard’s click casting menu, you can rebind the target and open menu actions to other keys. If you want left click to be flash heal, for example, you can rebind open menu to shift+left click.
I used to use alt+left/right so I could use the easier binds. It’s still a huge gap in Blizzard’s implementation that it doesn’t let you bind spells to keybinds. They expect you to just use the mouseover functionality in options, but that doesn’t let you say, have r cast smite when you aren’t mousing over a frame, and r cast flash heal when you are. The clique add-on does let you do this.

Thanks! I tried setting those up, but I still cannot access the portrait menu. Nothing happens. I am really missing VuhDo right now lol

Yeah, this is nuts. I tried to right click focus someone and it wouldn’t work.

Ugh. My work around is going to be binding all my heals to key modifiers. It’s honestly really annoying, Blizz. If addons could figure this out, why can’t a small, indie company?
Bumping this. Came here specifically to complain about this as well. Portrait frames are NOT the same as party/raid frames and should be treated differently in click to cast. Please fix thank you.
I also want to throw in that for addons like Vuhdo, if someone died, it had an auto Brez function if you clicked on them. Would like a “smart” system implemented into the click casting. I shouldn’t have to target them, then find brez on my bars then click it to brez them. Because who has brez keybound? (well not me at least).
HEALBOT kept messing up so I switched to the organic UI.
I bound left/right click and shift+left/right click for spells.
so for the frames menu, I just ctrl+right click the frame for that menu you are talking about.
slight adjustment but works fine.

Yup works fine after you set it to a new bind. Will get used to it eventually. I use alt left and right click for the new select and options features
I discovered you can’t use mouse buttons for their frames. For example if you bind power infusion or whatever to middle mouse button (B3) it will NOT register on the frames but if you hover of the actual player it will. It feels kinda dumb honestly.
I really wish they didn’t mess with our healing add-ons, it was never an issue until they made it one

Yeah Vuhdo was the best. I can’t believe no other healing add on has a setting to let you target the person you are healing with your click.

Blizzard is entirely too stubborn on debuffs NOT showing on healing add-ons. It’s asinine that they show debuffs on their own frames but not any others, what’s the difference and point of this?
Haven’t read the rules if bumping is allowed but I’m doing it anyways. Need this change to take effect because I’m bad and need all the help I can get, thank you.
Please separate raid/party frames from the portrait frames for click to cast.
What’s the issue you’re trying to solve with this? The two ways I have healed have been using clique in which case I made the default mouse buttons work with alt, and using regular binds with mouseover enabled which keeps the mouse defaults the same.
What would splitting party and portrait do for you?
It would allow me to do normal functions with portrait frames (changing loot specialization, changing dungeon difficulty and raid difficulty, inspecting other players), and separating it from healing functions. For example, right click is dispel for me. ctrl right click is holy shock, and shift right click is word of glory. I either lose my ability to dispel or I lose my ability to do the typical functions of right clicking on a portrait.
If you’re curious all of my click to cast buttons are below.
Left: Target
Right: Dispel
ctrl Left: FoL
ctrl right: holy shock
shift left: Holy Light
shift right: Word of Glory
I am left handed so pressing ALT doesn’t work for me as I use the arrow keys. My jump button is numpad 0 lol.
I am also left handed and move with l;’ so I feel you. I am able to hit alt by remapping the windows button to alt. I can’t use control at all.
I think I understand, yeah the way I used to do it is alt-click to select myself and alt-left click to open the menu to change the stuff you mentioned.
Now I just use keyboard keys with mouseovers since I switched to having buttons on my mouse for targeting party1-5, mostly for PvP.
The click casting that Blizzard implemented is missing so many features. I always use scroll wheel up and down and page up and down on the mouse for click casting and blizzards doesn’t register them at all but clique does.
