Part of the experience of the game (from pvp perspective) is the world pvp and dominance on your server for certain key resources. In many ways it’s how militaries and politics works irl… part of the reason it’s so engaging to bring friends to back you up to secure areas for your guild to gather. I’m guessing you play primarily on PvE server?

Though; there should be a ‘cap’ to how many players can fit in a world zone and smaller numbers of servers. I don’t think we’ll see quite what happened the first time around… that was absolute chaos! (Whitemane Server 70,000 characters created with 12,000 players online at a time… servers are designed to house maybe 3,000-4,500 players at a time, and that’s bulging at the seams)

I get it for pvp servers, and yeah I play on a pve server because I don’t enjoy the disruption of gankers. Having played pvp servers in the past I learned its just not for me. I do enjoy pvp but I prefer it to be in an instance so I can be prepared for the battle.

One thing I didn’t enjoy was fighting people in zones for spawns, this was something that was a constant in older mmorpgs like EQ which I played for a long time before wow. It always devolves into one player becoming greedy with their pulls and just ruins the enjoyment for me. With tbc having such a focus on professions and crafted gear its especially annoying knowing that I have to race hunters, mages, and boomkins that just effortlessly steal mobs off me.

They could up the drop rate on motes or increase the spawn rate of the elementals and I would be happy in all honesty.

And that’s a fair answer. I like world pvp personally so I think I see what you’re saying.

I think this is a delicate thing to balance. One, you want there to be a ‘reward’ feeling for finally finding that Khorium vein / Arcane Crystal from Rich Thorium or whatever it is. It needs to be slow it needs to be hard to get.

I think that’s what I mean by having a certain flow of gamers into a server. “not too much” “not too little” Goldylox servers. That I think is something Bliz has never figured out how to maintain… It’s best to let the players of a server regulate it’s own health with some basic rules for population.

If too many Horde stop playing a server there could be an alliance log in que? (hard to do when you can only play one faction on pvp server) Back in the day I would just do online research to find the balanced servers and roll as the underdog 60/40 but that’s just me…
