As i said, they can set what ever rules they want, in order to create what they think is the classic experience… i dont see them as dsagreeing with themself, i do see people trying so very hard to create loopholes for mechanics that dosent belong in classic… people so used to relying on tools, and automechanics, that they no longer are capable of interacting with real people as they level up !
it’s not about not waiting to socialize it’s about better time management. maybe I want to farm for mats while also looking at the addon to find a group for a dungeon in whole other zone. I still talk to these people while trying to find a group I just don’t have to waste my time in a city to find them. That’s my own personal reason. I don’t want to sit in a city when I could be multitasking; looking for a group while also farming (or questing).
that’s the entire problem. it did exist. it was called CTRA among other things. the entire functionality came from these early addons.
Don’t agree at all. People think this will force people to manually group - it won’t. It will just force some people to not group at all.
Another example of people demanding everyone play how they want them to, instead of simply not using the addon if they didn’t like it themselves.
And Blizzard made a point of saying how closely they were following the discussion around the addon, meaning it wasn’t that they had a huge problem with it, but they saw all the whiners losing their mind over other people not playing the game they thought it should be played.
I didn’t have any plans to even use the addon, but this kind of attitude really ticks me off.
yeah, good work, Blizzard. woho.
Call to Arms!
and the next thing people want addons that allows you to bot/auto farm materials, while they social network to set up groups, maybe they want to use their time better ? … the social game play is a integral part of classic, and shouldent be automated !
botting isn’t allowed so no one is going to ask for that. and once again the addon was never automated it was an option.
Exactly, you missed the entire point…
While certainly, pockets of functionality did exist, let’s not kid ourselves that we had the idea of a full fledged LFG addon in the original version of WoW.
The level of automation is probably against the spirit of the game, but, really, you can’t put the genie back in the bottle. We’ll end up with a similar tool, either way.
I honestly expect a full fledged gear addon to show up, too. Something that color codes you based on what phase of gear you’re on and then combines that data to who you’re trying to group with.
Fun fact. In vanilla I was able to automate my warrior with an addon I wrote. I could literally spam one of two buttons and tank raids with him. One button for tanking groups of mobs, another for tanking one mob, usually the boss. It was efficient because the addon made every decision for me, whatever was the next most optimal choice. I had very well geared fury warriors that couldn’t peel threat off me after the warrior threat buffs in vanilla.
I have seen people asking for the vanilla API back again. I think that would be a terrible idea. Haha!
This is a mistake break the auto invite functionality but you are emboldening actual worrying behavior with this ruling. There is an addon in development that is attempting to ban anyone use the lfg addon from a chat channel the user has moderation of. That is an actual issue. Also the issue with the modern groupfinder tool is the cross realm nature of it. All you are going to is move group finding out of game and into discord.
I believe that was broken before 1.12, IIRC.
I had addons in vanilla lol most people did that is part of the vanilla experience.
And blizzard will set the borders of what they rule as the classic experience, they already said they will change the API, since they know what it can do…
Nah. I am almost certain it was broken in the preTBC patch. 2.0.1 or whatever it was. I mean, it could have been broken in 1.12 itself, but I am pretty sure I still had it functional when Naxx became a thing.
I could be wrong. Memory is definitely fuzzy.
autoinvite in addons didn’t exist in vanilla eh?

Here is a fun fact, back then our computors barely ran a classic, people had to close down almost everything in order to run the core program, it was a huge issue…
I specifically used CTRA so I didn’t have to invite all 40 members to the raid everytime. lol
your classic experience wasn’t the same as mine and therefore is invalid!
