Classic wow should add fresh new content after vanilla instead of adding BC, wotlk

Well all they have to do is rescale Karazhan and Zul’Aman and we have two new raids. Other than making sure the scripting and relative difficulty matches their reference client, they don’t need to make any big changes at all.

And what about finishing off the weather for all the zones? I’m surprised no one brings this up. This is a no brainer that only boldens the old world by making it more alive. I’m sure they can pull that off too.

The problem with this is you just opened the door for retail players to vote on changes to classic.

Classic wow isnt osrs though.
Furthermore you just opened the door for retail wow players to vote changes into classic.

“I got what I wanted with Classic, and those that want BC or Wrath shouldn’t be allowed to have what they want.”

It amazes me how the people that have this kind of mindset somehow don’t see the hypocrisy behind it.

Yet you’re still subbed and 120

You raise a very valid point with respect to adding the expansions, there’s a wide array of opinions on which one people hate most, but Cataclysm does seem to be the most universally hated.

I love the idea of developing an alternate story arc / development, it’s a chance to learn from mistakes past and possibly make a game greater than Original / Retail or Classic. More RPG elements would take the game to a whole new level.

But that’s where I also shudder at the thought of Blizzard developing more content…you can only make so many mistakes to learn from before it becomes raw stupidity instead of a mistake. Mistakes are forgivable, repeating the same mistake isn’t.

I think we need to see how the next year plays out with Classic and the subtle changes Blizzard are trying before players can trust them to do something new.

I would not be shocked to have Chromie say “Oh no, this isn’t how it’s supposed to go at all!” and have more 40 man raid content and such added before TBC, and then have the item levels be low enough to be replaced in the first week of TBC questing. So it would be a Classic flavored expansion in between the ‘progression’ stuff.

Meanwhile, Rift Prime crashed and burned and the LoTRO legendary servers are an afterthought.

But please, continue citing only the one success as proof that it always works. Have fun with Retail players voting in your polls just to mess with you.

And we no longer have Classic WoW.

“You think you do, but you don’t.” Brack was 100% right.

The thread isn’t about maintaining classic as the status pro, its about adding content instead of adding BC or later expansion servers.

That’s the context of which this thread is going on about. You could make a thread about how classic should never be changed. That hasn’t been done before either.

Edit: Also, weather effects in all zones. Needs to happen. Not Vanilla like.

So…people who don’t think that should be done aren’t allowed? Does a dissenting opinion truly upset you that much?

I would love to see Blizzard do what Jagex did with OSRS… no one thought OSRS would be what it is currently either.

Of course the only issue with this is that Blizzard needs to be competent. Jagex is not as money hungry as Activision :frowning:

The dissenting opinion in regards to the context of this conversation would be taking the stance of a BC --> Wrath server instead of Blizzard adding onto Classic.

We’re arguing chocolate vs strawberry here, and you’re bringing in Vanilla from left field.

But then we run into the issue where WOTLK started to kill WoW with LFG and stuff… Now if they went through BC>WOTLK>New content, but kept it true to the classic design philosophy then I think we would be just fine.

There’s basically no way they could make BC and Wrath work without flying mounts. Therefore, they cannot stick to the design philosophy of Vanilla, where you were limited to ground movement when in control of your character.

Uhhh…You know the world designing tools used to make those continents ddin’t suddenly stop working when the expansions were released. They can be used to remake the continents to not need flying mounts.

One of answers we got from a recent interview with devs is at this point, they are more in favor of a single version of Classic. So whether it’s 1) Classic no change at 60, 2) Classic+, 3) Classic to TBC, all servers will be converted to that version.

I’m okay with the rereleasing of old content (BS, Wrath, Cata, etc). With the caveat that everything is rebalanced in such a way that it encourages teamwork and a great community (like in Classic) and the leveling process is not shortchanged. It feels great throwing heals on people in need during the leveling experience. It is awesome when people group up to do quests. If it were me, I would also keep the talent trees and change how some classes played; IE I dont think a Ret pally (or what have you) has to play exactly like it did in Wrath if Wrath were to be rereleased.

Do you not know how OSRS is set up?

If it was in the same fashion, you’d need to play classic, have a max level and some other arbitrary feats to actually vote.

You can’t make a new osrs to vote, also it needs a 70% favor to be implemented
