Classic WoW is going to be so much better than

Oddly enough, I think the long global cool down COULD be good if they did things right. The reason I say that is because some of the ‘jobs’ have abilities that are on a kind of ‘second’ cooldown. So what you do is you weave those abilities in between your GCD.

The problem here is that the abilities are just not really interactive at all.

What I THINK could have been done is to give a class two GCDs that they have to weave together, but they just do less damage on individual cooldowns. Course SE doesn’t innovate, they’re just copying WoW at this point to a detriment.

Anyway, the way FFXIV does it is trash so yeah I agree in that it’s too slow.

this is funny since FFXIV is better than any available MMO currently and has more players than retail lol

I just cant get over the long global cool down. It turns every job into a slow waiting game where im just standing there waiting to use my next ability

you’re doing combat incorrectly if you’re just sitting waiting on gcd. most classes have a bevy of off global cooldown abilities to weave.

I find it humorous that the Classic crowd seems so insecure they’re now attacking not even retail, but entirely other games. BTW, I’ve mostly moved from WoW to FFXIV, and the latter is far better than both.

Everquest 2003…and that is about it…actually take that back because looking back with my nostalgia glasses EQ was better.

FFXIV does not have more players than WoW. Don’t buy into the advertising that Square Enix puts out. It is impossible for FFXIV to have much more than a million players.

FFXIV announced that they had 16 million registered accounts, including trial accounts, telling people that there were more players than in World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft has more than 100 million registered accounts.

Being a publically traded company, Square Enix publishes their quarterly revenue. Their MMORPG division makes $20 million dollars per month, split among 3 MMOs. Even if FFXIV has the lion’s share of that revenue, that game can’t possibly have more than 2 million subs (and that’s at the “legacy” price of $10 per month). Most likely, FFXIV might have 1 million to 1.2 million at best. And that number does not include microtransactions, or purchases of expansions, so that number is quite a lot less than you might think.

haha yeah bunch of sad little beeyotches. know what was better than classic wow? asherons call

whatever you say champ.

They’re honestly two entirely different games. One is a meandering journey built around the ideas of a early 2000s WRPG, the other is a story-driven roller coaster built around a JRPG.

You’d have an easier time comparing Retail and XIV honestly.

ff14 is pretty fun

Well, let me know if you have any actual evidence to the contrary. I like having actual evidence.

Sounds about right.

Its aesthetic is really good–I’ve always loved the Ivalice futuristic fantasy setting–but the 2.5s GCD and heavy instancing of the world just makes it a hard pass for me.

Pure lies.

The world instancing is largely a fault of trying to make a modern MMO that runs on PS3. I’ll commend them for trying.

But yeah they have a great aesthetic. Their spell effects blow WoW out of the water.

Totally non-elitist thread.

Classic will be better than your newborn child’s first smile, winning $1 million, and making love to a supermodel all at once. People will quit their jobs and kill their families to spend more time farming greens. Classic is life and life is Classic. Am I doing it right?
