store mounts and toys people will buy anything.
Yes along with all the other services. I’m certain Blizzard makes an absolute killing off of level boosts, character transfers, etc.
Yup it will be. Lack of hunters and warlocks when the people that never had to see the headache of these classes.
Paladins retooling when they realize that their buffs are 5 mins and by the time they buff the whole raid they have to start over.
If it is true to classic being locked into Certain specs just to raid. Hybrid means healer and only warriors tank.
I loved vanilla. It was amazing to me. It had its flaws but I loved it. Now however I’m 36 no longer 21. I work 50 to 60 hours a week now. So grinding for 5-8 hours 4 nights a week in mc isn’t happening for me anymore. I will keep my fond memories of vanilla and the people I played with and still talk to. I doubt I play it all over again though.
That is no secret, then have mentioned “engagement with the in game store” in many quarterly earning calls. Sure that it the #1 reason for allied races to be released as they were. Race chances, faction changes, and level boost oh my!
I thought my hunter was one of the better classes for classic, though nothing NOTHING beat my warrior for just relentless slaughtering of Twilight Cultists.
I was talking about two bags for arrows. Let’s be honest any hunter worth anything had his/her quiver and another bag full. So hunters lost two bags due to arrows and warlocks the same for soul shards. Also feeding pets so they don’t run away. The new generation is not going to enjoy this.
Now gameplay wise I loved me some marks hunter in vanilla. My first character was a dwarf hunter he was my first 60 as well.
Actually it’s a great thing. It will boost sub numbers to World of Warcraft. Inject money into Blizzard so they can fund more Retail projects, and with the extra players there for classic, Blizzard can tempt those players into the next expansion by integrating some classic features over into the next expansion and hook them into it as well.
There’s nothing better than to get your player base addicted to two games, instead of just one.
I can imagine Blizzard implementing a special classic timewalking event into retail as well, where old well designed epic questlines/events from vanilla are available once more and are scaled up (i.e. the tier 0.5 quest line, or the ateish questline, or parts of the scarab lord questline including opening of the gates of AQ)… Just imagine the hype if Blizzard implemented long lost questlines and events during a once a year classic timewalking event in the retail game… it would lure all classic players over to retail to participate for at least the duration of the event, just enough to get them invested into chatacters on there to keep going…
I think that’s where a lot of people will end up. It was the best thing ever at the time… but people aren’t who they were (at least I hope most of us aren’t lol) 15 years ago.
This. Blizzard now has the rare opportunity to look back at the lightning in a bottle they had with Classic and attempt to adapt some of the more popular mechanics for a future installment of retail. Having both active at the same time allows for that direct side-by-side comparison that has been needed for so long.
Honestly, Classic players will burn out after a month. Vanilla kind of sucked.
Once the nostalgia wares off they’ll start to miss all the benefits of current WoW.
Yup, I did vanilla but I’d love the old talent trees back. That is The only thing I want back.
no LFR no buy
There are a few things I would love back, probably a little piece of each expansion, but mostly I let the past be in the past. I do plan to play Classic when it is released, but I am expecting no more than a nice stroll down memory lane rather than an attempt to recapture the past.
Best way to go about it.
Just like all those people that were “sure” the world would end in 2012, it would be nice to just have their names in a book or search engine called “nostradumbass” that lists all the wrong predictions a individual has made. Mockery is a strong tool for learning.
You know you would think that WE all want both Classic AND Retail to be successful. Why would you want one to fail? But, you have two sides going against each other over a game most of us love.
I for one want both to be great. I don’t want neither one to fail. Thats just my 2 cents…
You can’t possible be serious with this comment?
WOLK was the start of tailoring to casuals to boost subs, which I might add peaked at 12m. I don’t see Vanilla OR BC getting close to those numbers.
In closing the casuals will hate classic.
Exactly. The QOL changes made to wow over the years are far more better than Vanilla or BC ever were. And I doubt classic will be close to Vanilla with Blizzard adding in sharding and other crap already. I bet zone and gear scaling are next.

“Yo… I don’t feel so good…”
