Classic V.S. Retail Population

The amount of money it takes to, “develop” for Classic and to develop for retail is astronomically different in scale. I think Blizzard would be very happy to have a core dedicated playerbase consuming and paying for content that they have to invest very little in.

Classic being profitable is one thing (and a fact actually), it being overcrowded as classic players think is another.

With zero cross realm and fewer servers, yeah. It is fairly crowded - but that’s also because the world is more limited. The reason live realms are often crowded is because of CRZ.

I’d rather interact with people on my server.

Only a few servers are kinda full in each region , but then so is retail. So many dead servers it’s funny they don’t merge of force transfer characters.

5000 lvl 60 players on classic server is perfect you don’t want overcrowding.

Id be surprised if classic had more than retail playing atm , but i also think WoW overall playerbase is lowest its been.

I played until I got my NElf to Darkshore for the nostalgia factor, and was reminded just how much the game has improved since launch.

I also realized that as much as I wanted to do the original Stalvan Mistmantle & Pamela’s Doll questlines again, and experience the opening of Ahn’Qiraj without a crashing server, I didn’t have the patience to get to 60, AGAIN, in Classic.

Haven’t been back.

I have a 60, a 56, a 36, and several 16-30s.

I’m also now rerolling Horde, probably…

I just kept rerolling. Wasn’t sure what I wanted. Hunter felt god awful at 60, Warlock was fun but I was almost at 60 by the time P2 hit. I’m thinking of actually going Rogue on the Horde - I actually miss them, as I was originally Horde - but I can’t be an elf…

I think the leveling is fun in sadistic kinda way

I think so. I’m kind of tired of the same zones (hence, going Horde, though at 30~40 you’re in the same zones anyway) but it was nice. You made stable progress and I wasn’t rushing to finish things.

Getting a new ability, new rank, or talent point was actually fun. I kept finding myself with 2 or so points though 'cause I kept forgetting.

There were quite a few questlines I really wanted to do again too. Those you mentioned and The missing diplomat.(loved that chain) I just couldn’t do it,got to level 6 and just gave up.

its gets easy each toon i find you get better idea of wtf you doing plus you got bags 2nd time round

When i found a 10 slot bag i was so excited the first time leveling it was silly.

Small Black Pouch. Legitimately smiled when I saw it. Copper pinching, saving everything and hesitating to repair gear if I know it’ll be replaced. First shoulders dropping - grey cloth shoulders on my Hunter. First helmet dropping… first ring, first neck…

Then passing bags that aren’t BoE to your alts.

I felt the same about questing through Teldrassil. But when I got to Darkshore, I was reminded in short order of the sheer über-sadistic design of the devs of one-timing you to death having to run the length of the zone to only turn in a single quest, repeatedly.

As long as I’m having fun in retail, there’s no point.

I’m not in to masochistic behavior.

I don’t find it masochistic. And there was usually a route you could take if you had all the quests. Running back to town when I needed to restock, repair, and sell off my vendor trash was nice - especially when I had a juicy handful of quests to hand in.

Plus grinding on mobs on my way to objectives passed the time, and in Darkshore that was a lot of skins to sell.

It’s the same zerg fest it was in 1.12. Classic players wanted the 1.5 AV specifically to avoid what it got gutted into late in vanilla.

BFA might be an utter failure and the changes might have added more sand onto the wick (GCD changes) but the combat itself is miles ahead of whatever classic offers, even the poorest of fights in retail overshadows classic.

Couldn’t bring myself to play classic… I played it when it was new. It wasn’t that great.

I stopped at level 2, I miss my heirlooms and I sure would be missing transmog at max level.
