Why? When TBC launched the people who were already playing got to use their existing characters. It’s going to be a completely different game, just like Retail is a different game from Classic. There will/should be 3 separate games when TBC launches.
If they are completely different games, as Classic it to Retail, then one would note that there are no transfers from Classic to Retail.
If there isn’t a cap on gold transfers, i’ll be saving about 20k to send to tbc lol. I’d want as much as i can get.
… with that being said, a LOT of other people would be doing that, so a reasonable cap is to be expected.
No, you borrow the gold before you copy your character.
I suppose I see what you’re saying, but then you’d have to have a lot of friends/guildmates who have less than 2000g per level 51+ character they have to help you bring more.
that would be the worst thing they could do my dude. people asked for VANILLA, not tbc, not wrath, not legion, obsessively for a decade and those people want to stay on classic. personally i main retail but if classic were to transition to tbc instead of leaving my classic characters as they are i’d just drop playing any form of classic.
#nochanges
That means when TBCC gets released all Classic servers get it, just like all Vanilla servers got TBC when it released!
Let Vanilla diehards have the option to transfer to a new Classic only server.
If you keep Classic Classic (with or without transfers of some sort) it’ll just shed players necessitating a server merger or three so you may as well just consolidate those peeps from the get go. The loss of Vanilla diehards from the current Classic servers will be offset by the influx of new players looking to relive TBC (some of which may wish for a ‘fresh’ server, but many of them will welcome the easier progression thru Vanilla content that the established servers would provide)
It really seems like the best idea just to progress all servers to TBC, and create snapshotted servers for those that want to continue raidlogging naxx.
so that people who classic dont have a big advantage over people that start fresh with tbc
they could remain separate games for those that want to stay in vanilla too
You realize this is not what the actual tbc experience was?
Some people went into TBC with multiple 60s and thousands of gold. If the TBC experience was about everyone starting from a fresh slate, blizzard would have released TBC on new servers and not allowed transfers to them.
there were fresh servers with tbc actually, just not all of them obviously
i dont see this as a continuous classic experience either, i think vanilla, tbc and wrath should be separate like private servers were
There were fresh servers to handle the new influx of players primarily. These new servers were also on the same battlegroups as existing servers and followed the same progression as far as I know.
i would accept some fresh servers along with continuing the others i guess
im not playing classic but would play tbc
That is fair.
Option 4: All Classic servers are upgraded to BC with an option to copy your character to a new classic server.
Most people will be interested in progressing to BC anyway. This way you would still play with your old server player base and guilds. Bonus: you don’t lose your name.
Option 5: All servers are mirrored (copied) with one that progresses to BC and one that stays classic. This is the best option imo but Blizzard will never go for it because of the server expenses. Which is ridiculous, considering how much money they make off us without having to make any new content (It’s already made).
I like that option as well. I just don’t want anyone to be forced to play a version they aren’t interested in so that sounds good to me.
At the end of the day, classic server will probably have to be merged at some point. There will be a mass exodus off to TBC servers.
This is true.
Right? this makes the most sense of all. Just copy the characters to a new game client, in this case, TBC servers. But LEAVE Classic untouched. The people playing Classic shouldn’t have to move to TBC if they don’t want to. Also, if people ever get the itch to go back to their level 60 toons, they can, on Classic realms, a completely different client.
All good ideas but man if they announce tbc at this years BlizzCon would be epic BC was the best so many good memories. PLEASE BLIZZARD give us TBC!!!
