lol… That system will use maybe 550W but ok there
What is running hot, gpu or cpu? What cooler is being used? What are the temps?
Ignore the guy who says the PSU is too small, he has no clue what he’s talking about.
Sounds like your overheating issue is a you problem and nothing to do with classic. Perhaps get your tower looked at and fixed or if its as new as you say then return it on warranty and get a replacement.
Try changing the ‘Max FPS’ option in Advanced graphics settings. I could probably have cooked an egg on my laptop with this set to ‘no limit’! I just toggled it back 60 FPS max and all heat issue went away. Obviously you will probably be able to push it higher than 60 FPS on a desktop PC.
By night I’m a gamer. By day I’m an electronics engineer and I would tell you that unless your system is overheating to a point of failure, you have nothing to worry about at this time. I think you are perceiving this to be a problem even though it isn’t. I could always be wrong though!
As an edit: I would look into your specific system component specifications and see if the components in question are within their normal operating temperatures.
After getting a new PC started up WoW classic and it ran perfectly. I decided to let Nvidia optimize it and suddenly my card went into overdrive, running super loud and hot. Turns out Nvidia turned off frame rate cap. After adding a 144 fps cap have had 0 issues.
I, too, set my FPS to limited to 80 FPS… Comp cooled down almost instantly
The client isn’t optimized for your latest gaming rigs. I’m going to bed atm. will look into it later
The Geforce RTX2080 has dual fans. They might have vacuumed up all the dust in the room and clogged up the heat sink. A far more likely reason for running hot than the client settings. But if you’re claiming that the liquid cooled CPU is running hot, I’m going to need to see some numbers.
Same. I have a 2700x + 1080 combo.
my GPU temperature is higher in WoW classic (70-75c and erratic) than it is in games like Battlefield V (65-70), both capped at 144 FPS; even though my utilization in WoW is around 30-40% if i’m not mistaken.
Absolutely. Anyone saying 800W is too small for that rig… just LOL. That’s not your problem. You’re right; the game runs hot.
Can confirm – reducing my max FPS from “WTFLOL” to 60 solved my CPU running very, very hot issues.
The only other game I have to ever overheat my rig was The Talos Principle.
