Classic Reputations

I’ve been trying to get to 100 exalted reputations, and I’ve cleared or nearly cleared BfA, Legion, WoD, Cataclysm, WotLK, and BC.

I’m super behind in Mists, as well as Classic.

My question here is, has anyone recently tackled Classic factions and gotten them to exalted? I started playing in Legion, and never went back through and grinded any of them. They seem more difficult to look up in the current patch, as you have to go back through the classic wowhead to look them up. Does anyone have any pointers for classic factions that are fairly easy to grind?

Appreciate the help, thanks!

Most of them are actually preposterously easy these days with only the BG ones (if you don’t like PvPing) and the Steamwheedle Cartel being tedious. The worst you’ll run into is a raid lockout slowing you down.

Running Molten Core, AQ20 and AQ40 every lockout will get you three (Hydraxian Waterlords, Cenarion Circle, and Scale of the Sands Brood of Nozdormu), Argent Dawn is one repeatable quest in Stratholme over and over that gives 1000 at a time, Steamwheedle Cartel you just kill trash mobs near each city while watching YouTube on another screen, with the more recent changes to mobs spawning in relation to how fast they’re being killed I think Steamwheedle is way easier now than when I first did it back in WotLK.

The Centaur Clans just require you to do quests in Desolace, and Timbermaw Furbolg is just committing war crimes worth of killing in Winterspring’s furbolg camps.

Oh and while you’re running Molten Core for Waterlords you’ll get tons of now useless crafting items to turn in for Thorium Brotherhood rep. Syndicate, Shendralar, and Ravenholdt aren’t worth doing - there’s way more available for 100 Reputations now.

Yeah, the classic reps are just an exercise in patience. I’ve been working on them for a while. The raid reps will take the longest just because of the stark limit on what you can do per week; the rest are just grinding, as Opherial said, and the barrier there is how much of that you can stomach at a stretch.

Also the Shendralar rep faction isn’t available since Cata. You can get rep with Ravenholdt and the Syndicate, but…that’s a huge pain in the rear and worth skipping.

Thanks for the help, I’m finding the daily and weekly timegated ones to be the worst. I’d rather sit for hours on end slashing my way though a dungeon and then rinse and repeat until exalted.

That being said, it hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be. The consecutive timewalking weeks got me from 28 to 66 pretty quickly.

Especially since you can hyperspawn farm at least two of the factions – Fray Island in Northern Barrens gives Ratchet rep (up to revered), and one of the Ships in Venture Bay in Grizzly Hills gives Booty Bay rep (up to revered). [Spillover rep counts up to Exalted] There’s also the pirate base east of Caverns of Time in Tanaris for Gadgetzan rep, though the mobs there are quite a lot more spread out and have way more spawn locations.

Most, if not all mob spawns in both locations are able to be covered by ~5 people. Then it just turns into a game of whack-a-mole for all 5 players to keep mobs spawning at the maximum rate. You can still do it with one person, it just takes longer.

EDIT: Note: if you plan on eventually getting The Insane title, you’d have to nuke all your cartel reps to get to Bloodsail Honored (or revered/exalted, if you’re crazy enough. I stopped at revered. <_<). You might want to do that first before grinding Steamwheedle Cartel rep.

There is a guide on Wowhead called The Exalted: An Overview of all Reputations by Wowhead. It’s a good guide in general but you can just scroll down to Classic. Also I’m… not sure why you’re having difficulty looking them up, just don’t use the classic Wowhead address and use the normal www wowhead one instead. Or that guide above which tells you exactly what to do. =)

Not really having difficulty per se, but if I type in a faction it defaults to the classic page.

People giving me this info will help to speed things along, and there are so many factions that it’s hard to pre-plan it all out. For example, some of these daily ones I wish I had started doing sooner, as well as the raid weekly ones.

Hey, as someone who was at 93/100 Exalted, spending a day grinding those reps to Exalted was a breath of fresh air compared to stuff like The Black Prince from MoP only having a single 500 rep increase per week on the Timeless Isle.

I think I’m going to skip The Black Prince.

Update: How does Molten Core give three factions? Is that one of those ones where if you get exalted with one, it moves to another one?

Thorium Brotherhood was cake.

I got 100 at the beginning of BFA. So I know this pain well.

Easy tip for Cata/MoP reps is that if you wear their tabards into any and all dungeons at or below that dungeon, they give rep. I don’t know if this still works though.

Argent Dawn, Brood, and Hydraxians are just dungeon/raid reps. These should be your top priority because they’re timegated by resets.

Cenarion Circle’s annoying because you just have to grind out mobs in Silithis. It’s not nearly as complicated as the rest of them, but invest in a good TV to watch while you’re at it.

The goblin reps are pretty easy if you get a group going and just kill pirates for several hours. All four go up together, so that’s a pretty easy way to score a few reps all at once. Find a group of friends who maybe also need the rep, and set aside an afternoon/evening to knock them all off.

The hardest one (in my opinion atleast) is Ravenholdt. Rogue main or not, it’s going to include endless hours of you grinding through LBRS. I think I started doing it on and off in 2014 and it’s just going back to it every once in a while. My suggestion is having a rogue alt with their hearth set to Searing Gorge, level up their engineering for mobile mailboxes, and create a bank alt whose only job is to hold lockboxes.

Really, the rep game is just a matter of patience and find ways to stave off boredom. Make sure you start the dungeon ones first, because those will take months with resets.

If you need more than classic I suggest you get on “Raid Lockout” day(s) early as well. I think the ones my Warrior is missing are just because I CBF’d to do Battle for Hyjal, Throne of Thunder, or Firelands anymore. Icecrown Citadel and Black Temple have associated reputations as well - I can’t really think of anything past that but my raid career was so off-and-on and scattered across “for the greater good” alts I’m probably forgetting something.

Steamwheedle Cartel reps (Booty Bay, Everlook, Gadgetzan & Ratchet) are…easy* enough to max out with, now. The pirates on Fray Island (N. Barrens) give rep bumps with all 4 (Ratchet slightly faster than others) when you kill them. The named Captain gives a little bit more. Booty Bay and Gadgetzan have similar rep grinds, there are Venture Co. you can kill in North Stranglethorn and Pirates in Tanaris. Everlook is the only one without something similar.

I am not sure but I know you can make some headway with Ravenholdt with the Syndicate mobs in Arathi Highlands. I know you can with the BFA Arathi, not sure about pre-BFA. It may stop at revered, not sure, never done that rep grind to exalted.

Hydraxian Waterlords is simple enough*, just run Molten Core a lot. Easier if you do it in the lunging hope for Sulfuras or Thunderfury.

I know from first hand, you can grind all the way to exalted with The Defilers during the Arathi Basin comp stomp brawl (also vice versa, also also a good and easy way to farm up Marks of Honor and get the Defilers / League of Arathor Tabard if you want it). Again, not hard, just grindy as is the fashion for classic era reputations.

Argent Dawn…I know I did it once, I think there are the initial quests out of Stratholme that do. I want to say there is also a repeatable quest out of Light’s Hope Cathedral you can do in Scholomance for rep.

The two Centaur reps are easy, just do the quest chain out of Desolace. It will happen.

Good luck.

*=download a length podcast or something equally entertaining to listen to in the background. This crap will take some time.

Is it possible to run MC on different difficulties and still get faction?

Answer is to faction change to the Alliance.

There’s only one difficulty for Molten Core.

Nah. Molten Core only has one difficulty setting: OLD. 40 player, once-a-week reset. Just takes months to finish that grind.

The other raids from classic are the same, AQ20 & 40 are once-a-week reset that default to normal whenever you enter.

e: I forgot! Save up any mats you get (Fiery Core, Lava Core, Core Leather et cetera) for Thorium Brotherhood turn-in in Blackrock Depths. That one is actually really easy now with Molten Core solo-able. Go figure.

I’m closing in on exalted with the Hydraxian Waterlords. I haven’t been doing my one run a week consistently (it’s so boring) but I’ve started again.

Good news: if/when you move on to BC reps, it’s not necessarily that bad, because there’s a trick you can use to grind out the Hyjal reputation in an afternoon like I did. I think that’s Scale of the Sands. The first trash mobs come in eight respawning waves, followed by a boss. Kill the waves for rep, immediately retreat before the boss aggros on you and hide in a back corner of the map until he kills Jaina. That’ll reset the raid, as long as you haven’t killed that boss. She’ll take about five minutes to respawn and you can do it again.

Tedious? Yes. Less tedious than grinding that out with a run a week for months? That’s up to you.

There’s a similar trick with the BC dungeon rep associated with the bronze dragons, I’m blanking on the name. In the Black Morass heroic version, you can kill all 17 waves, then let the last boss kill Medivh so it resets.

The Darkmoon buff is upcoming, so it’s a good time to take this on. Don’t forget to bring your guild banner!

BC is almost done, save for Ogri’lak and Netherwing. Almost done Netherwing actually.

Yeah, Ogri’la is all I have left for BC, and it is my nightmare. You get four dailies a day, and they’re all interminable. And it takes weeks.

I hear ya. There are some that I’m just like, nope…not going to happen.

I’m not in a huge rush to get to 100, it’ll happen eventually. Shadowlands should give us another huge chunk of factions to grind too.
