Please, if you want a gear cap of naxx on classic plus then just stay in classic and play the same game.
New zones, raids, dungeons and GEAR (Horizontal Progression) is a must for classic plus to thrive. Why add the new zone, raids, dungeons if there is NO incentive to run them? Classic plus zones should be designed for the “end game for the end game” Not designed for fresh level 60’s looking to gear up. (You already have an ENTIRE world for that.)
New gear doesn’t hurt the play experience. It doesn’t change how the game plays. New gear should be balanced for the new content. If you don’t want new gear, just stay playing classic and stop hurting a fundamental need for classic plus.
As long as it doesn’t make the old content obsolete that’s what killed retail. If the gear is that much better people will just go straight to the new content and ignore all the old stuff
Yes, gear should be better, but not so much better. There should be a proper gearing path. You have to remember, no one really wants more levels for level cap. So you won’t really get all the extra stat inflations. The gear should be worth doing the time. Maybe add new tier sets for the raids. Kind of like the green gear increase they did with TBC, but not so “extreme”.
What I would hope to see, would be new raids at each gear level, slowly growing upwards.
For example, let’s say Gilneas gets opened up as a questing zone, maybe level 40 or so, but it has a 40-man raid with gear comparable to BWL.
Then Hyjal opens as a zone, for level 50 players, with a 40-man raid that drops gear comparable to AQ. Add a Battleground, Tauren vs. Night Elves.
Then Quel’Thalas opens as a zone, for level 60 players, with a 40-man raid that drops gear comparable to Naxx. Maybe add a Battleground for Trolls vs. High Elves.
Lastly, the Emerald Dream opens as a zone, with a 40-man raid, with gear that surpasses QT/Naxx.
I have replaced BiS so many times now that I straight up don’t care anymore.
More important to me now days is just playing the game and enjoying it. Gear gives me no thrill, and I suspect that many vanilla players feel similar now
As for a C+ game, nerf AQ and Naxx loot down to epic 63, do not nerf the difficulty of the contentbat all, and make the new content mirror MC / BWL in terms of difficulty level. Make some of the sets mirror the MC / BWL sets but with just as wacky stat allocation and resist stats at the same budget, but set bonuses and stats shifted for different builds.
Also make some other optimized sets that mirrors AQ and Naxx @ epic 63 level, with mirrored difficulty.
We don’t need more power, we just need more options
Old content was always relevant in Classic because of the itemization system, where you got +hit and +crit %, instead of hit or crit rating introduced in TBC and onwards. That made low-ilevel items still valuable and even BiS (e.g. Lionheart Helm is BiS for DPS warriors through Naxx).
Adding new gear to Classic+ can be done, but needs to be done carefully. However, I fully expect the Era team to screw it up.
why does everyone think classic+ is coming you’re all gonna be super disappointed
all that’s coming is fresh with some very minor changes. and even that will take far longer to come out than it should.
I will never just raid or do content that doesn’t reward me better gear or something shinny for my time or effort. If it not leveling, gearing, becoming stronger, getting some sort of reward. Forget it, it is just a waste of time and stupid.
Please, if you want a new set of gear that invalidates everything that’s currently in the game then just go play WotLK or Retail to play a new game.
I’m all for new gear but the problem we already saw with TBC and onwards is that there just wasn’t any reason to do the old content because it became irrelevant both from a gear and difficulty perspective.
We can have new gear, it just has to be in the same realm in terms of power as what we have now. Otherwise you lose this game and get something else entirely. There’s a reason so many people are coming back to Era. Let’s find a way to embrace that.
My concern is that a + won’t be for the right audience and will instead be for those who both play Retail already and are happy with it, which will then chase those away who do not want another Retail experience.
Like the poster directly above you. He’s got posts saying that he doesn’t like Vanilla within the last week, saying he would never play it again, yet he’s on the classic forum chiming in on several threads. Why?
That’s not the only poster like this on this forum within the last week either. I don’t go onto the Retail forum and make suggestions on how to change that game to one I’d like more because I understand the audiences are different. My wants no longer conform to what Retail is, and I’m not selfish enough to think Retail should be changed for me.
As for the comment on Fresh, I know what I like and what I like about it the most is not related to the economy but I also think Era should stay as it is.
Would love some new raids/content.
My idea for loot is they could add a new tier set, but instead of being better than naxx gear, the new tier would offer the opposite function of tier 3, like warrior t3 is strictly tank gear… new tier would be dps only etc… not sure how it would work for rogues/locks/mages… but could be a neat idea.
Naxx off pieces could still be better over tier gear in this situation, would just offer more alternatives if you never see those drops. idk blizz has a huge opportunity here.
Yea I don’t really understand that either. If Classic isn’t your jam, why play? Classic+ needs to be a certain kind of experience or it’s not going to land.
WotLK and Retail are very similar experiences. We also have FF14 which provides gameplay along the same lines. SWTOR also. There’s lots of MMOs that provide that vibe but as far as I know, Era is the only one of it’s kind right now. That it’s as popular as is is saying something.
The people who are playing it and loving it don’t really need a lot. Just some new pixels to slowly swing a weapon at
I posted about it here so maybe I’ll just link, but in opposition to new gear and growing power, I think Classic+ should focus on horizontal progression instead of vertical.
This doesn’t mean there won’t be new challenges to face and new ways to progress your character, it just won’t invalidate existing content.
