Are you telling me you have nothing better to do with your lives than to farm gold just so you can afford to respec twice a week? What kind of no-life loser wants to spend time farming that much gold week after week after week? Complete mind numbing monotony! Don’t tell me other specs are viable in competitive PvP. There is only one optimal spec in most cases and its the difference between winning and losing. The stupidity I’ve read in this thread is something else. And don’t tell me to go to retail because I never played retail past TBC. If you don’t enjoy playing your PvE spec in PvP then what does that say? I’m not advocating changes but if you think farming gold is more enjoyable than that time spent in real life doing better things than you have a much bigger problem in my opinion.
This wasn’t the rage dump you were looking for. Or needed.
“Farm” gold… If you can’t make respec money in under an hour you’re doing something wrong.
It was a pain in vanilla and a pain here. Never understood it, really no reason for it to be so expensive. Really no reason for it to cost much at all. In fact, it helps game play being able to try stuff and have fun switching builds.
As for the naysayers, your comments and explanations make no sense to me. Some are trolling but some really seem to want it to stay tyrannical. I don’t get it, this is not something that made vanilla ‘hard’ or that makes Classic ‘hard’ (define ‘hard’ as you will), it is something that makes them both more annoying.
Could say the same thing about literally anything in game. It’s a game. ![]()
But yeah, if it’s only 100g/week for example, then seriously how much farming are you imagining? 10000g is like 2 years worth of respecs, in that scenario, and it’d be difficult to imagine any no-lifer, hard-core ranker not having had at least 10K gold by the time BGs came out.
The biggest problem is people trying to compare this game with games that came out 15 years afterwards. You have to compare this game to it’s contemporaries.
In EverQuest you literally had no choice. Your roll was locked in when you chose your class, end-of-story. You’re playing a game that at least gives you a choice to change your role, and you should be happy for that. If having the option isn’t enough for you…then perhaps recreation of archaic MMOs are not for you.
Ok, I want a refund then for all the times i’ve respecd
If yorue too poor to respec, just run a hybrid spec
btw u can tank pmuch everything as fury impale
You misunderstand me. I don’t even want to spend one minute of my life farming gold so I can respec between PvE and PvP. But this is a fundamental disagreement I have with the original developers. “doing something wrong” as in level herbalism probably lol. Sorry, I did herbalism in vanilla. I wanted to do something different this time around. But ya, I don’t like farming at all this point. I still like raiding, still like pvping. Farming is no longer something I enjoy at all anymore. I am well aware of inflation in this game, how it works, and the need for a gold sink. I just don’t think this should be one of them. Similar to how I don’t agree with property taxes. Don’t pay your property tax and you’ll find out who really owns your “property.” Not the best analogy but its the best I can think of on the spot.
Everyone I know wants to be able to respec more easily. Everyone I know doesn’t love to farm endlessly. Everyone I know doesn’t have unlimited time to play this game. But we’re not even talking about respecing to your heart’s content. We’re talking about pve vs pvp. It’s that simple. The grind to rank 10 was bad for me but even the rank 14s are geniuses compared to the stupidity of #nochanges. At least the rank 14 grind has a final end to it. There is no end to respeccing costs.
#nochanges… but don’t tell me this isn’t stupid
Ah, yes, perhaps I belong in the retail clown show. There’s nothing even remotely wrong with a pointless timesink that robs you of time you could otherwise be enjoying playing this game.
Lockdown for 3 weeks. Level a mage farm toon. Never respec or be poor again. /thread
Ask not what blizz can change in classic. Ask what you can change about your own play to get what you want.
#nomorechanges
You have the option to swap, and if you’re going to play an old MMO you should be happy you have that choice at all.
And if that is not good enough, then yes…without question you do belong in the retail clown show…because it’s people begging for the game to become easier with systems like dual spec that lead retail exactly where it is now.
yeah 1.12 is literally late vanilla, why did we start off with a late vanilla patch? 2004 and 2005 thrown out the window but we start at molten core / black rock. Makes no sense, layering made no sense, it literally ruined the gold and market permanently, they should have just had a lag showdown and let everyones computers explode for 2-3 weeks, then when it died down it woulda been perfect.
Because that’s all they had backed up.
You have players on Incendius begging for it to return, right now.
I am leveling my main as prot warrior as i did in vanilla in 06. not bankrolled with enchants and gear by a lvl 60. I tank everything to death while questing. In fact, the DEHTA from outland showed up one day and fined me for cruelty to animals (bc i take over 30 seconds to kill). I have no ‘dps warrior’ muscle memory when I play, just tanking muscle memory.
#1 warriors can tank in any spec.
#2 healers are always in short supply
#3 reroll or sthu about no healers.
Then I guess you thought you did, but you didn’t. The respec fee is a gold sink that keeps prices down on the AH. It’s a major reason that gold is still meaningful in Classic. Besides, if your guild is properly organized, they’ll front your respec costs.
Personally, I hate travelling, and I really want my flying mount back. I hate hunter ammo as well as the fact that I’m unable to fire point-blank shots. However, I knew what I was signing up for when I decided to play Classic, and that’s why you don’t see me demanding those changes on these forums.
No.
That will only start a slippery slope of other changes being added.
That’s why #nochanges is important.
You think I want to get sapped for 40 secs?
No.
But it is what it is.
This is something that absolutely won’t change. Sorry.
Even so, I am someone who would benefit greatly from dual speccing, and I still don’t want it in classic.
You understand the concept of a “slippery slope” right?
Regardless Blizz pays no attention to post like these anyways. Because if they catered to everyone who had a problem with an in game function we would be playing a completely different game. Get over it. These type of posts are really obnoxious.
Did you even read the rest of my post? I didn’t come here to advocate for changes. I came here to call out the #nochanges crowd for the stupids that they are. I think #nochanges are in the minority at this point because I play this game with real people and I don’t know anyone who doesn’t see the flaws in vanilla/classic. I am a VANILLA player and quit in TBC so you understand who I am and what I’m about. You have to have the IQ of a brick to think that vanilla was this perfect game with nothing wrong with it. There is nothing normal about an unnecessary hurdle to jump through just so you can enjoy pve AND pvp. I don’t need to hear anyone’s opinions when the flaws in this game are blatantly self evident.
I have a new hashtag for you. Its called #nothanks
