As a FFXI vet, gonna say he’s absolutely right. WoW was never hard. It was far more approachable than other mmo’s. That was part of why it became so popular.

WoW was always the casual MMORPG. Far more approachable than other games, and more theme park than sand box. Now, were mobs more difficult back then? Yes. But compared to the rest of the landscape, WoW was easy mode. Hell, you didn’t even lose XP for dying, like most games. Some games, mobs who killed you GAINED XP, and could actually level up! Including WORLD BOSS mobs! Picture Lord Kazzak, gaining XP on every kill, when someone kites him to Stormwind.

Just because the current state of retail is less difficult does not mean that Vanilla was hard.

I adored TBC, but I do have to admit that a few of the poisons that ended up messing up the game were injected there. Specifically I’m thinking of flying mounts and daily quests. I’m fully onboard for TBC without those things, but if the option is TBC precisely as it was back then I’d prefer Classic+.

I don’t get bored of Classic no longer how long it goes on. I only side with Classic+ because other people are likely to get bored and how the demographic thinks can influence what happens to Classic Don’t want to lose it again.

The thing about TBC… it just feels like Retail-Lite to me. It’s what changed Classic completely into a different game… not in the direction I wanted to see.

patch 1.2 is pretty much tbc anyway and classic wow isnt vanilla wow.

They don’t have to add mechanics, they have to add the danger of being killed instantly by the boss if you don’t have gear. Resistance gear should be required for MC, messing up at all should get you or your raid basically insta killed, threat should be hard to hold without gear. These were the staple marks of Vanilla. By the time patch 1.12 came out most of these issues were meh because the patch was made for Naxx and TBC pre patch. Loot tables were adjusted to make gearing easier too by this point. Mana was much easier to manage, healing was far easier to do efficiently, there was a lot of buffs between 1.4 and 1.12 when you add them up they become substantial.

Well that’s what the flat damage increase does, it makes the elemental abilities much more dangerous.

The extra 4-5-6 abilities just make it more interesting and skillful.

Well that’s funny a lot of people believe classic+ is dumb as well in fact I’d say a good portion are playing classic now only in hopes that TBC servers happen. Classic+ sounds horrible. You got classic like you wanted so why shouldn’t the rest get what they want is like to see them progress through to Wrath. I’d stay subbed. I don’t see myself staying subbed once nax is completed. There would be no reason for me to keep going as there’s no more progression to be had.
