I started 4 months before BC so I am happy it is 1.12 from the start. Im kind of disappointed I have to wait for Dire Maul and battlegrounds to come out :(. I remember chain running DM once I hit 60, which took me a month to do playing 8 plus hours a day after school. Dungeons took plenty of time to run and I did not think they were super easy nor super hard. Id rather they not take even longer to run though.
Its pretty hard to forget that fact lol.
Still much of the challenge at the time cam from the fact that this was many peoples first mmo so if you could make things easier you did. I never really understood the 10 man strath runs but i knew they happened.
As an aside, i enjoyed the heroics that came later and hoped that M+ would be in that vein instead of what it was. A more difficult instance
You know, regardless of re-tuning and all that complexity, reverting threat to how it was prior might be the easiest least intrusive thing they can do to at least make things feel a bit more authentic. Then when you enter Naxx, it’ll hit you with a threat increase buff or something like that.
Sure, people will still hit like trucks relatively, but threat will at least keep them in check.
That’s a really good idea.
Then you can have “Vanilla” threat for the rest of the game, and this way it all plays closer to how it ought too.
That’s a really elegant solution you got there.
Harland originally published it. I had similar thoughts, but he should get the credit.
My guild did the Scholo / Strath 10 man on occasion to gear the players who hit 60 late as a way to help them catch up for raid.
Guess you wont be able to do it this time around though im sure you can make new memories at 60 in 5 man Scholo/Strath
Ok, that does not surprise me, I respect you both regardless of who’s idea it was.
It’s possible to simulate the difficulty, just 3 man it using a DPS player as a tank and a hybrid DPS as a healer and bring a single pure DPS like a Hunter, Mage or Rogue for the CC.
I guess if you want to take forever in scholo/strath
Though do keep in mind there will be the 45 min timed loot drops if they are going with the 1.12 event at launch for strath.
I cant for the life of me remember the total set of rewards on that, I just remember it being specifically for the Dungeon set 2 stuff.
Were there extra drops also??
As i recall you got an extra drop for doing it under the 45 min time frame. I dont recall if it was linked to tier .5 to be honest as much as it was linked to Naxx being out. Still it was a fun event overall. I would enjoy it being out at the start simply to test myself against groups before getting MC gear.
I guess you could call it the Original M+.
Kinda think it’s what inspired the M+…
IMO they should have gone for a completion mode version of M+, that would have been freaking epic; I would play BFA for that right there…
Complete with better drops every say… 5 levels or something while the power of the drops don’t keep up with the power of the NPC’s tho… This way harder levels are indeed harder.
Interesting, thanks for your input.
I dont understand why some use the “no changes” argument in terms of this post.
As long as the data/settings are from either the 1.12 patch or an earlier patch then it is No Changes!
Who the hell wanted the exact 1.12 patch all in all? We wanted the Vanilla experience.
I think its fine to use 1.12 as a base, but with input from earlier patches.
Well put.
How can there be any arguments to what Merd stated above? If there are any, Id sure like to hear them.
There is no conflict when it comes to “no changes” by combining old exisiting patches (it has already been done due to for example itemization).
The only reason I can see to why Blizzard/Activision would want to recreate the exact patch of 1.12 is for the game to cater to the masses - same road that retail went. A new cashcow perhaps?
I also think that 1.12 is a solid base to build upon, but that doesnt stop us from for example reinstating elites in Zul farrak that in 1.12 are non elites - just to name ONE example.
I dont se a conflict

I merely want the game to be as unforgivi…
No.

Care to elaborate on the basis to your opinion?
Sure. Blizzard has stated which patch they are going to use.
Still Kargar, where is the conflict?
It might not be a bad idea to build upon patch 1.12. But are there really a self serving purpose to recreating patch 1.12 down to each number? When we all can se that 1.12 in it’s full “glory” contradicts the WoW Vanilla game design pillars/philosophy.
Did you read my first post?
One example, if they were to reinstate Zul’Farrak Dead Heroes as elites again (they are non elites in 1.12), is there a conflict? If so why? And also what are the downsides?
