⭐ Classic is Definitely not Vanilla

Notice how none of these posts about how we didn’t get the “real” Vanilla experience talk about whether the game is fun. Fun isn’t important to these people, gatekeeping is. They don’t want to have fun, they want to feel special for choosing to tolerate something other people would find unpalatable. Here’s an idea: go outside, pick up a dog turd and eat it. Then you can be proud of how hardcore you are.

It’s not gatekeeping. It’s keeping the game fun so we don’t quit again.

About 5% of the posts in this thread contain the word “fun”. You don’t care about it, and you’re only now pretending to.

This thread is merely about reverting nerfs from earlier patches that fit the 1.12 patch - nothing unresonable by that and no downsides as I can see aswell.

It wont offer a huge change to the game, it wont affect kills for any hardcore guilds (in the long run), but it will still add somewhat to the games longevity.

Dont we all want that?

No, I don’t want that. I don’t care, because I’m having fun playing the game and so are the millions of others who don’t belong to the vocal minority of forum complainers.

Well the game being easier by giving you your quality of life things kills the fun

I cannot agree more with OP. I want to see if the “mathematically impossible” C’Thun can be beaten in it’s original state.

Knowledge isn’t the same as tuning. Just because you know everything about an admittedly easy fight doesn’t mean you can just afk in Herod’s whirlwind, which is what the unforgiving tuning is needed for and what makes classic difficult.

Edit: Just to illustrate my point more.

Dark Souls isn’t an extremely complicated game (especially compared to other ARPGs like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta), for most it borderlines on requiring only two buttons: dodge and light attack, but missing a tell, mistiming a dodge, or just overextending an attack can easily result in instant death and a wipe of your progress since your last checkpoint. Vanilla’s difficulty, as the major nerfs towards the end of it’s lifespan seem to indicate, was very similar in principle to Dark Souls for most of it’s existence.

Likewise, we must start a campaign to let Blizzard put that variant in.

Correct. It will never happen unless that multi billion dollar company has a time machine. It’s literally not possible.

I very much agree. My level 39 or lower group cleared Cathedral with our tank using a two hander, our dps constantly stealing aggro, and me barely having to top people off. We had zero need to cc and I only went oom on long chain pulls. The only fight we wiped on was Morgraine/Whitemane since we pulled while I was low mana. This just shouldn’t be possible, no matter how simplistic the fights are.

It was even more pathetic when that one wipe due to poor execution resulted in our Warlock declaring the fight impossible just because we didn’t faceroll one boss. After I got everybody to shape up and actually let our tank hold aggro while better managing mana myself we cleared it easily when it should have been at least some struggle considering the bosses were orange or red for a few of us.

The experience can only be recreated so much from an artificial perspective.

If I decided to call every person from my childhood soccer team, and we got together as adults and played a game with the exact same teams, on the exact same field, at the exact same time of day, the experience would be completely different than my memories of playing as a kid, because the players have changed. That is not good or bad, just reality.

This is no different.

It was always going to. You have had 10’s of thousands of players grinding Vanilla in a harder form on Pservers for 10+ years. We know more, play better, know better.

We were always going to smash Classic.

So that means they should instead give up and give us something that is obviously nowhere near the mark? Who would honestly care if the tuning is a bit off from the actual pre-nerf content if it feels challenging like it’s supposed to? Obviously the top guilds wouldn’t have taken more than a day or two longer to clear MC if it was tuned to emulate the pre-nerf version, but it would fill the purpose of the end tier of content.

Agree with OP 1000 percent!!!

This is exactly what I was hoping they were going to do, and wish they’d done. They should take the most iconic versions of every feature and, where applicable and feasible, implement them.

I was able to pull almost like retail as a tank in SM Cathedral. We did outlevel it a bit though but still.

Modern stuff is already introduced.

Nerf content, experience exploit for raids, and layering.

Read what the OP stated.

Unnerf the nerfed content.
We have forever to do it. Make it worth it.

Classes were in top condition in 1.12 so keep but look at the instant content. Lvl is good still.
