Do you like dealing mega dps in raids?
Dont pick a hunter.
Do you like being able to control a hopeless situation and secure a win through mechanics? Hunter is the class for you.
Do you want an easy ride to 60? Huntard is the class for you.
I didn’t see it mentioned earlier in this thread but here is one of my tips for being a hunter. You are the puller.
In a group environment with packs of trash that are scary? You have a few options depending on the situation.
Aggro pull.
Pull a mob group with your group to far away to get aggro (this includes your pet,/stay) use traps and concussive shot / scatter shot to increase the distance from the lead mob and the rest of them. You will likely want to use aspect of the cheetah as well (Los spells or outdistance spells) when there’s decent distance you will have your pet (or if you can coordinate with your tank) enter the aggro table on the lead mob chasing you. Then FD immediately, the rest of the mobs will run back and your fighting 1 mob. Please note you should not get any buffs or healing when your doing this as the healer/buffer will enter the aggro table for ALL of the mobs. There are mobs that are “tied” together and this won’t work on them.
Option 2
The long kite. Is there a dangerous mob that you don’t want fighting your group at this time that you can’t CC? Well good news, your a hunter and can still kite them with distracting shot, cheetah, and FD. With enough room you can keep that Mob running back and forth between your group for a long while. Please note you are not limited to just one mob to do this with but it does become harder.
Is there a pesky caster in the group? Loss is your friend distracting shot it for aggro, shoot, then as it’s close to finishing it’s cast Loss, then come back out before it can egt to close to you, the more you can do this the more you prevent damage and make your healer love you. (Or hate you if your to good at it, had a healer yell at me to stop cause he was bored lol)
Combinding these tricks with multi trapping, pet tanking (which can also use the LoS benifit on casters to keep 2+ casters busy), exc. Can make a healer (and tank) feel like they are there to watch instead of do anything.
Also there are critters in the world and dungeons, if your pet has aggro on something, slow it and send the pet after a critter to prevent damage on him can also help.
Also the kite game isn’t limited to just mobs, if you have a boss that pulls with adds you can direct your group to kill adds 1st as you kite the boss with distracting shot and cheetah (boss mechanics can prevent this, know what your doing) and can make a boss MUCH easier.
A huntards job is to dps. A hunters job is to control the fight.
Also, keep your healers safe (and dps if you can) you are their safety net.
Lastly when your doing dungeons you don’t out gear as a group, scorpion >serpent sting
The damage prevention from it is overall better than the mobs deing slightly faster from serpent sting (in most cases, dps race mobs can be better to focus on dps) and some bosses are NOT immune to scorpion sting and it can save a wipe from a downed tank. Tank lives with 5% hp and gets healed because of scorpion sting vs dead but more dps from serpent sting.
Bottom line, a good hunter is amazing in everything but raw dps.
