it is to keep out trolls and people who are there simply because it is free, NOT because they will play it for longer than a week. They are congesting opening day and forcing sharting on us.
so you would rather have sharting and trolls running amuck on opening rather than accomodating your true loyal base?
Well it's not free, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if people who decide to download classic, which will surely be 15gb at least (my current wow folder is 56gb) are going to be people who have a genuine interest in classic.
Because what is a troll in your context? I don't even know. People are going to be seriously into classic and seriously playing and still trolling lfg and trade.
Like you know why people keep being confused about terms like "accomodating your true loyal base" is because no one even knows what you mean. They don't know what a you mean by a troll. And they don't know how you think this is accommodating anyone.
yes it is FREE for retail players, but BFA is not free for classic players. so you will have lots of that horrible community spill over. if people are forced to pay a small initial fee, it will help weed out who truly has an interest vs those just there to annoy or waste their time and others time.
it is pretty obvious what "accomodating" means. it means that the vanilla player gets the vanilla experience. sharting on us is not the vanilla experience. its the chocolate experience. on opening day are we going to have 10 people in the starting zone? 5? 15? how many before players start getting sharted out into another movement/instance and then how often will they poop back into my movement/instance? blizz should give all the wonderful details of this shart experience.
what do i mean by a troll? someone hanging out in the starting zone blathering negative comments and trying to annoy people? isnt that what trolls do? or just randomly try to grief people in those zones any way they can? it will happen a lot. i thought it was pretty obvious what a troll was. someone doing anything to annoy or try to ruin a good time for others.
