It is a return to basics.
No QoL, no lft lfg CRZ or any of that; just the game as it was.
Just think!
Tanks and heals will get the trespect we deserve.
Professions will matter!
Rogues will ninja shields and bows!
Hunters will ninja EVERYTHING
And…
the best…
THE very BEST of ALL…
What I always find interesting about these kinds of threads is the idea behind them; that Classic WoW was somehow more inherently a Role-Playing Game, while Current is not. The perspective that micromanaging attributes, talents, supplies, and even Hunter pets is a superior product.
Yet, from my own perspective as someone who actively engages in the Role-Playing aspect of an MMORPG, I cannot help but feel sorry for every poor soul who’s passions are woefully misplaced. The mechanics behind a game only serve as a vehicle to the actual content of the game; interpersonal communication and shared story-telling.
Classic has this no more than Current does, my dour dove.
It’s just romanticization of the past, or nostalgia or both. I have played WoW since the beginning. Classic WoW was amazing - 15 years ago. That time is over.
Everything has been discovered and meticulously added to databases now. You can’t forget everything you know about the game. That itself was the magic. It was all brand new.
From personal experience, I will politely disagree. Even just the night elf starting zone will be insanely different with quests that I didnt even remember existed before cata, things being in different places, etc. I guess if one wants to go look all of that stuff up they can and then yes it wont be as challenging, but after so long (for some people) it will feel pretty new. Plus theres all the people who started after cata or whenever all these little details changed.
But you are over here acting like Vanilla was the perfect RPG game. Because… it’s not, however sure it was alright. I enjoyed my time in it when it was current
Vanilla was more of a RPG than modern WoW. Modern WoW is more aimed towards immediate access to content, quality of life, competition and streamlining/optimization of the gameplay and the system, probably because that brings in more people.
I mean yeah new players will get a new experience. But you are only fooling yourself if you believe the great mysteries are just gonna be forgotten.
Getting lost as a horde in wetlands randomly isn’t a mystery.
Seeing what the end boss in the raid is Luke isn’t a mystery.
Knowing how to gear your character perfectly isn’t a mystery.
Wondering if Hyjal makes an appearance isn’t a mystery.
The titan wall in the Tanaris desert to uldum isn’t a mystery.
You are only lying to yourself if you believe that the magic of not knowing is still there
Classic World of Warcraft will easily be the best MMORPG/RPG released this year. And this is coming from someone who isn’t that hyped for Classic. I just know the kind of utter crap MMORPGs/RPGs that seem to get released lately.
Thank you Ebenezer.
You’re fooling yourself in thinking that what people need to have fun.
And it will be ‘new’ for me; BC babe here and now the circle will be complete!
It’ll be FUN comparing the two, to see what was, and wasn’t different!
I mean, besides no flying.
