Classic Anniversary - Phase 6 - Fresh 60 Progression - Hunter

Hi, I’m a new player and somewhat recently hit 60 on my hunter, and I’m a bit lost as to what I should be doing.

I’ve been told so many different things by a bunch of people that seem to conflict, and because I’m a new player I can’t sort out what’s actually meaningful advice. The issue is, it seems like every guide I’m looking at or bit of advice I receive expects that my server is in phase 1 or 2, but anniversary is already at phase 6 and I have no idea if I’m wasting my time getting old pre-raid bis gear or if I should just hop into ZG, AQ20, or be doing something else.

I know I probably won’t get far in vanilla raiding given my experience and the timeline leading up to TBC, but I’d love to have some idea of what my progression should look like and what is meaningful to do at the moment.

I don’t know about Classic Anniversary , so I asked Perplexity AI. It said

For a new hunter who just hit level 60 in Classic Anniversary Phase 6, the key is to focus on meaningful progression activities rather than older, less relevant content meant for earlier phases. Since Phase 6 is the final phase of Classic Anniversary, it includes the Scourge Invasion event and the opening of the Naxxramas raid—the ultimate vanilla endgame challenge.

Here is a concise progression guide tailored for you:

Gear Progression

  • Skip most pre-raid BiS farming for early phases; the game is in Phase 6, so focus on acquiring gear from current content.
  • Engage in Zul’Gurub (ZG) and AQ20 runs as they provide solid gear upgrading pathways available now.
  • Consider pursuing the blue PvP gear sets through battlegrounds and PvP, as they remain competitive until you reach top endgame raids.
  • Prepare for Naxxramas by acquiring attunements and reputation (e.g., Argent Dawn) to access it.

Raids and Dungeons

  • Jump straight into Naxxramas preparation—the defining raid of Phase 6, with the best loot and hardest bosses.
  • Run endgame 20 and 40-man raids like ZG, AQ20, MC, Ony, and eventually Naxxramas for gear and experience.
  • Participate in high-level dungeons and world events such as the Scourge Invasion event to get event-specific rewards and materials.

Reputation and Reputation-Based Rewards

  • Work on Argent Dawn reputation for rewards that help in Naxxramas.
  • Finish quests and world objectives related to the Scourge Invasion to get additional useful items.

General Tips

  • If new to raiding, join groups or guilds focusing on these current-phase activities to learn mechanics and get gear help.
  • Avoid investing too much into outdated pre-raid content since it slows progression in Phase 6 where better gear and more meaningful progression options exist.
  • Some players recommend mixing PvP grinding with dungeon and raid runs for a balanced approach to gearing and skill improvement.

This approach will help you make the most of your time and efforts now that your server is in Phase 6 of Classic Anniversary, getting you geared up for the final stages of vanilla WoW before Burning Crusade arrives.
