I hate how Mirror Image talents weren’t touched. They are just so useless in every type of content that isn’t solo open world stuff.
Why insist on Direct Damage, they will never get hitted by direct damage in any endgame content (unless tank died i guess). I’d rather have a talent that simply increase damage reduction to 30% or something.
Also, it has to be repeated more often - temporal warp needs to be an extra ability. Using alternative on fights where BL is not at the start absolutely sucks, it’s too random and always activates on reposition.

Hopefully not. There’s plenty of stuff that still needs work in the class tree outside of even Mirror Images.
Oh I very much doubt it will be amended any further. And more to the point these minor changes achieve almost nothing. The Mage class tree is so bad it needs to be uprooted entirely and reworked from scratch. At the core it’s nothing more than previously baseline ability functionality and a broad rehashing of the SL conduit system. There’s nothing much in there that can be salvaged.

Just chiming in since I think some folks miss this -
They’re actually great for group content. As long as they’re active they serve as a 20% shield wall.

Yeah but the two talents below it are pretty awful.
They’re fantastic in PvE group content, both raid and m+. It’s the choice node after mirror images that’s absolutely useless.

Absolutely. The weird little heal and whatever the other thing is are just garbage, and nowhere near strong enough to warrant spending points on. In fact so many of the defensives in the general tree are hot garbage. 4% magic damage reduction… Yay… (and that’s one of the better ones). MI itself though is pretty great as you say. It’s a relatively short cd, long duration 20% reduction and can definitely save you during big AoE phases.
i am clearly talking about talents that supposed to improve MI, not ability itself.
It was more a clarification for anyone who didn’t get that memo - didn’t mean to make you look bad or anything.
Not only do they increase your mitigation they can soak up a cast of any add which does a single target cast.
20% damage mitigation is nothing to sneeze at. For instance when doing first boss on BH, popping MI will make it so you don’t go under 90% hp if you ice barrier and the rogue stabs you in back. That means healer doesn’t need to top you up. You can use it during massive pulls also to make sure you survive rng bursts. I will agree the talents under it are very solo content based. But it isn’t a useless spell. That mitigation lasts the entire duration… 30(edit: 40 seconds) seconds of 20% reduction to our dmg taken is pretty huge. A lot of unavoidable damage in lots of bosses in dungeons and raid could and do benefit from using them.
topic is not about ability, it’s about talents that supposed to improve this ability
Big problem is they give you all your abilities at first still without any other talents to help them synergize and when you do get them its the same cookie cutter gameplay.
Me as a marksman. I can choose between doing slow methodical shots that hit hard Or i can take all the spammy blasting shots. Frost DK. You can go two hander or one hander builds.
But mage? They are stuck in a mold that will not be changed by this little “rework” and i’ve seen. This is just digging sand from both sides and just dumping it back in without changing the design in the center, it does nothing.
They need to be able to specialize on how they wanna play, a lot of moves need to be put on optional lines so they can bypass them. What if someone doesn’t care to have scorch for their build cause they wanna do the BIG blasts and do chunk damage. But at the same time if you wanna take scorch cause you wanna have a consistent damage build where you’re always casting.
Mage needs thought put into it, don’t sift the turds around in the litterbox.

Mirror images are for threat removal. Its never been an offensive spell. If you have a strong bursty opener, having them out negates your threat long enough for a tank to grab threat. For this use are spot on. What would you have them do?
