I think the occasional class-exclusive quest/story is a nice optional addition, but Legion proves that focusing too much of the main story on classes makes it difficult to follow the story across multiple expansions.
Example: Did you know that Balnazzar - one of the classic Warcraft 3 Dreadlords and a boss from Scarlet Monastery - is permanently dead now? You don’t if you didn’t play a Paladin in Legion (or watch a video later).
Legion put major characters, major locations, and important storylines exclusively in class quests, and it made it very difficult to keep up with what was going on unless you play every single class. I still don’t know what happened in all of the stories.
It also makes it difficult to add new classes later, because now those classes (e.g. Evoker) are completely left out of the class quest lines when the old content is revisited.
So, that means that class quests have to be of fairly little importance - like Heritage Armor quests - to keep everything coherent (not that WoW is particularly good at that anyway).
I think class quests should be kept to fun things to unlock extra cosmetics for your class and explore class fantasy in a way that doesn’t actually affect the overall story.

That’s a fair point. I think what would be the most reasonable is having options for HOW to complete a quest and also a “skip” quest option.
Love the idea, but it’s a little optimistic for our expectations.
I don’t need poison quest only to get 7 day debuff where I can’t use stealth. Pass.
the questlines between the classes were quite different and fun playing to the flavor of each class. Although I was very uninspired by the consular line.
“Jedi! Thank the stars you have arrived, we need you to…”
"Wait. Let me guess. Some Jedi master, ʻhas gone crazy and we need you to fix them.ʻ "
“Well, yes. How did you know?”
“The Force is unimaginative sometimes”

RGE: “Dangit Priest! Stop doing that!”
Priest: “What?! Im just doing my quest: Save 20 townsfolk from the plague!”
RGE: “Yeah well i need to kill 20 infected townsfolk! Stop healing the things Iʻm trying to kill!”
Priest: “Stop killing the things iʻm trying to heal!”

Ya the legion class campaigns were nice for the most part.
I think replayability is subjective since there are people who find this DF content currently alt friendly , replaya ble or even good for that matter.
Class quests would be nice.
Speaking of class…
I wish they’d rework class trainers, perhaps not to switch or learn talents since people are too lazy but perhaps tie class quests to your trainer or something.
This game really is lacking a ‘world’ feel.

Ugh. Worst one out of all of them. lol
Although the Sorc. one was fun when you had to use force lightning to shock a confession out of some poor shlub
“Aaagh! Please! Stop!”
Stop what? This?" ZAAP!
“Yeeeagh yes that! Please no more!”
"No more what? No more of This? BZAAP!
Not at all what I described. This has nothing to do with Classic js. Side note, you can cure that almost immediately doing the quest or cure poisons options. Everyone knows that’s nbd.
Idk, I consider myself a Blizzard denigrator enjoyer and this felt low hanging fruit.
A feeling of “why am I even here?” is what I constantly feel. Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying DF, but not the storyline/quest experience.
Sorry, classic PTSD got the best of me. Great thread.
LOL shocking people was fun, but I wasn’t keen on the Ghostbusters storyline for Sorc.
Class quests could easily be made as part of an expansion (there’s an Rogue quest (albeit as small one) at the beginning of the Waking Shores).
What I’d really like to see is quest-givers recognising your Class when giving out certain quests (like a Rogue’s lockpicking or a Hunter’s tracking).
Also, I’d some more instances recognition from past members from your Class Hall. There have been some who have in the past, yet there have also been some who noticeably didn’t (like Eitrigg at the end of BfA as I was beating him up).

Personally. Im all for it
Shaman is trying to talk to the suffering spirits in the area
Rogue is infiltrating and stealing the last bit of valuables
Warrior is testing their strength going in with no chest armor
Monk is gathering secret flower to make a funny drink
Paladin is purging the entire city

They’re hailing the Saga as narrative rich so hopefully we can see some alt-quest paths, options, etc. like just getting the choice to complete a mission in different ways would be huge. Or maybe side quests become time-bound to the part of the quest you’re on. Once you pass that part and start the next part, those old side quests go away. Just want some quests flexibility!
Ya a guy, who just… HAPPENS to be a Paladin, purges a city ONE TIME, and now all of the sudden people see a Paladin come into town and the whole place goes crazy saying things like “don’t purge me bro” or “I’m vegan!” smh. Anyway, that’s what the Vindicaar is for.
The second you start giving class specific quests a large part of the player base will complain that one class’s quests are better then theirs.

There’s something that doesn’t sit right with me being held in a creative prison due to jealousy. It seems like every excuse (and I’m not saying this against you at all) is contributed to X group feeling jealous that Y group got 2-3 more shinies than they did.
It’s just an excuse for Blizzard to do less and more of the same and kills off creativity and innovation.
I was clearly joking when i said that because thats not what paladins do lmao it was just a dumb reference to everyones favorite king

I mean, they already forget monk is a class most of the times and we are still here, people will move on.
You know… I noticed they took away the “class specific” quests in the starter zones too… everything is just funneled into one main thing now. I LIKED doing those “hey talk to the paladin/priest/rogue npc to get more ideas on what you need to do to progress” kind of thing. They took those out I … want to say around the time of legion… maybe? Maybe end of MOP… now the new players won’t get to experience that. Instead THEY get funneled into “exiles reach” which doesn’t … really teach you anything about the UI… the skillsets… where to FIND THINGS… I mean they tried? but it feels rushed. I level alts in there all the time now, but yea… Gone are the Class quests days…
