I think the problem is two fold. They don’t know how to show this without it coming off as racist or cultural appropriation with their, seemingly, narrow view on Shamanism (while also slamming into their class fantasy concept), and they also don’t know how to be respectful of beliefs that aren’t their own, early treatment of the light being just an analog for christianity (demonstrated by having an end game showdown with everyone being converted to the light in a final battle with the great evil of the setting) demonstrates a difficulty in separating personal beliefs from what should be a unique setting.
I’m not going to pretend it’s easy. It isn’t. I’m having trouble showing that my Blood Elf, RP/Fan-Fiction, is a Shaman without pulling out the elementals and class kit. I’m trying to show this without just pulling in real world concepts, and by extension Troll and Tauren cultural elements.
