Class halls > covenants

Not sure anyone would disagree, but feel free.

We didn’t have to earn “legion bucks” to upgrade a portal to get direct connections to the main hub of the xpac.

Artifact lore book was interesting to flip through and relevant to the xpac to build depth.

It was tied to a real meaningful choice of class selection.

Had better storylines that resonated better.

Oooo Class specific mounts!

I still go back to the pally one every now and again.

I miss my class hall :frowning:

There’s a secret class hall in dalaran called the flower hall. How do I know this? Because the flower vendor in dalaran has a bodyguard with a massive sword. You only get cool bodyguards as part of a class hall. Hence the flower hall.

I wouldn’t say one is better than the other tbh

Both are better than garrison though

Class all were the best and legion was the best expansion since a while. From the class all, the class questline, the artefact weapon to the class mount, nearly everything felt so great for my character.

Since then, i am force to use ability that just don’t fit my class…

And i don’t care about what competitive player that want their fifth alt to be mythic geared in one week say, the artefact system was also the best of all our system.

If they could take all the good stuff from the class order halls and combine it with the good stuff from covenant halls that’d be pretty neat.

I am still holding my breath for player housing aka not garrisons.

Good thing I’m a Warloc; undying breath.

I loved the class halls. Hunter, Pally and Warrior for sure. I wish that was our home base for the life of the game.

Druid Class Hall - you can fly in it.

Priest player might not like them as much.

I liked both.

I legit almost die every time I hear an early SL development interview where Ion talks about how covenants are meant to add meaningful choice that’s sticky and tied to player identity.

And then somehow later in the interview completely misses why tier sets that resemble the raid tier more than the player class are so absolutely despised.

The character identity we want to have is class and race identity. They did class identity for one expansion and called it done.

BFA tables and tiers were awful raid themed yuks but at least they gave us some stunning racial armors from the warfronts.

They haven’t given us a tier set or quest line that is fully inspired by the classes we love in literal years. My heart breaks.

We do want identity, we just don’t need it to be attached to some convoluted system of the expansion. Classes are right here, waiting for us to immerse ourselves.

I’ve been sitting out SL and this mitigates my fomo a bit. I’d been levelling classes I don’t usually play through Legion mostly to take a look at the artifact weapon lore and class halls I didn’t see while it wascurrent.

SL had some pain points early on, but really just not up for serious gaming currently. Brain too cooked after work.

Order Halls were way better. Probably one of the best additions ever in the game.

Covenants have slowly grown on me. Still haven’t done Kyrian yet. But for all the ramblings of “meaningful choices”, I kind of wish covenants were just class specific and we got more flavor added there.

I still, rarely, visit my class hall. Especially on monk, mage and DK that have an instant port.

Without a teleport to the Sanctum, I will probably never visit it after 10.0.

Player and guild housing >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Class halls > Covenants

Covenant Sanctums are garbage in every way imaginable, Not the least of which is the fact that Kyrian is the ONLY sanctum where you can mount almost everywhere, and that is laid out well. No having to go through mirrors or jump between levels constantly, and don’t get me started on Seat of the Primus, the worst sanctum of all.

The Class Hall’s were a stellar concept that could scarcely have been better designed. As previous poster said, every thing about them tied to your class lore and the stuff even was fun to do , whether it was recovering artifacts, the quests or even the terrible command table mechanic - hands down one of the worst mechanics to ever disgrace this game. I don’t know what Perfect World employee they hired to add this garbage to the game but even that wasn’t bad in Legion. I quit Star Trek Online immediately when they added that mission table crap and Blizzard is lucky to have gotten my money after doing it here.
Sanctum of the Light was a serious nerdgasm moment after being away from the game so long. It felt like they finally showed Paladins some love instead of constantly ruining the class (making it not fun - not that it isn’t still viable because obviously) and all lore around it. It was cool AF, this giant underground cathedral on the spot where Tirion and the Lich King fought in WOTLK.

Just literally everything about the Covenant Sanctums is terrible. They’re all deliberately placed as far out of the way as possible, except for Necrolord. The Kyrian Sanctum is the farthest point away on the map that you would actually go to in Basation, for example, and so is Sinfall in Revendreth. You have to physically go there to turn in Callings and use the Forge of Bonds or do your little Covenant minigame stuff like the Queen’s Conservatory or Path of Ascension. At the very least, there should be portals to these areas, but there aren’t and never will be.

At least Legion had a portal to every single individual order hall.

It may be okay for weirdos who put their HS on their covenant and then literally never go back to the old world - i.e, you know, the entire World of Warcraft - because they spend all of their time in the new expansion. But for people who use the AH and actually play the game, it’s not okay.

I miss Meatball chomping away next to me while doing WQ.

About equal for me in terms of idea. Like the Covenants was a brilliant idea, but Blizzard ruined it with tying player power to it.

Class Halls, from the start wasn’t something you could specifically choose. Unlike the Covenants, the Class Hall you got was the Class you decided to play. Nothing more then that.

Absolute nonsense. The only identity people want is the top slot of the DPS meters.

If players could change class with a mouse click, they’d be doing it between boss pulls.

That said, Piddy went All In for Kyrian in SL. I picked Kyrian because of the clothes. I fought the battles, ran the quests, got the transmogs and mounts, and the only thing missing is the blue facepaint.

She fell from the path only slightly when the Kitten mount showed up in the store, so she package away the Kyrian. Cuz kittens.

Next expansion, she’ll likely revert to her old ways once we leave SL. Just the way it is.
