How do I get this app? I wanna get paid to poop post! Errr… I mean make quality & meaningful discussions!
I have alts from 20-116, Dear Heart, am currently logged in on my Kul Tiran in Redridge.
Waterwalking is rarely needed or useful in pre-flight areas. Maybe as an occasional laziness to get around the Redridge lake or the swamp around Atal’Hakkar. If you really need those slight crutches, then pass the WW shoes down to your alt.
But crying that it is necessary, and will be some great detriment going forward without the current strider mount, is laughable.
Kinda like that time I blew $60 an a hunter boost for BfA and my pet was nerfed into dog feces immediately after.
No way Id invest anything more in this game while Ion is at the helm.
You mean like Pathfinder? You know “the if you want to fly in Warlords or Legion you have to go back to those expansions and do old content and old rep grinds” thing?
Or allied races? To get the most of them you will need to grind old reps, and once a new xpack drops all the current allied races will require you to do old content and old rep grinds.
You are extremely incorrect about your assumption that Blizzard doesn’t like us doing old content. Heck, even things like transmog encourages old content grinding. Not to mention adding battle pet drops to old content. Then you have the achievement hunters and mount farmers as well. All require you to go back and grind old content.
It genuinely bothers me how people don’t see the issue with this.
Sorry son but I have around 40 lowbie alts…MOST of which DONT have flight yet.
ALL of which have the strider as their main mount.
if you mean BFA content currently, then sorry but again, ALL of my non flying characters have the strider as their main mount. Why wouldnt they with all that water around ?
Try harder.
That.
Right there.
Is how you do it right.
Leave it alone, make it obsolete by tempting people away with something better.
Not this “meh, you had a reasonable expectation that this was permanent… But we decided otherwise. Tough cookies.”
this should be entertaining
Then I’m quite sorry you can’t let go of such a crutch, as it is not needed anywhere, and only kinda useful in a few very limited spots. This really is sounding more and more like a “for your own good” change, much like the portals.
All of your 40s alts are leveling in zones that predate the strider, y’know, so, some advice; take it off your action bar, put in a regular grounder, and start getting accustomed, if you don’t wanna deal with the new items.
“The sound of inevitability, Mr. Anderson.”
I think it’s pretty likely they will send boots to all our current alts.
But we will almost certainly have to buy boots for alts created after 8.2 goes live, but I guess it sounds like they’ll be pretty cheap. Hopefully they stack so I can bank several and save myself a trip each time.
There is lore reason for the Water Strider mounts…the real life and in game bug called the Water Strider can walk on water all the time…that is where the idea and lore came from to make the mount.
You really aren’t listening. The complaint isn’t about the “necessary” aspect of water walking. People are well aware water walking isn’t going away. It’s that people spent not only gold, but time to grind reps to get this specific mount for this specific purpose, and not Blizzard is taking it away, and making us pay for it again. If the striders did not have this specific passive skill very few people would have probable wasted their time and gold to grind it.
Right now if I “need” water walking I can summon one of my striders on any of my characters that at 20+ in a level and have riding… for FREE! Once this goes into place I will have to pay for each of my characters to have that benefit.
Don’t “Need” to log in either, which makes everything optional and your argument totally pointless.
If the shortest distance between where I am and where I want to be is over a river or bay… I don’t “need” to take the most direct route, I “want” to. Very much, because wasting extra time on excess travel isn’t fun nor an is it efficient use of playing time.
We’ve covered this ground before…
If you have the expectation that everything you acquire in the game is permanent, then you haven’t really been paying attention to WoW for the last 15 years. “I spent a lot time on that, YOU CAN’T TAKE IT!” never has been and never will be a driver of game design here.
I’ve been thinking the same. It’s stated that if you have the waterstrider, you will receive the hoof floaties in your mail. I don’t think Blizzard would limit that to just the first character you log in to.
However, if they really want to make it work exactly like it has, as Kaviax stated in the other thread, those mailed items need to be the following.
-
BoA
-
Have unlimited use
-
Mailed to every character I currently have and any that I create in the future
“sorry you dont like being stolen from but thats how blizzard rolls”
and we are giving the troll too much food in here.
yeah…like that Master loot theft.
not even a good deflection, son.
Stealing what I worked for is inexcusable…doesnt matter if you find some way to make it excusable for yourself.
You know youre wasting your time in here, correct?
or is this just about liking the attention you get from trolling?
I could see a case where it is mailed one time to all current chars on your account, yea, but I doubt the latter would be viable. Remember when the pet battle safari hat worked like that? Everyone complained that for unwanted chars, it forced them to login first, open mail, delete the hat, before it finally let them delete the alt.
