Clarifying demons being reborn

are demons always reborn after they die outside of the twisting nether?

because during legion remix in the antorus raid I think Illidan? said something along the lines of crippling their endless regeneration capabilities.

can someone clarify the legions connection to demon rebirth?

Yes, Demons will be reborn if they die outside the Twisting Nether. What was happening in Antorus was they were using Argus’s world soul to supercharge the rebirthing process. What may have taken hundreds of years was now taking a small fraction of the time. So once we took out Argus their forces respawn timer became an actual limiting factor for the legion.

Yes even demons who died in Netherstorm on Outland and Blade’s Edge Mountain riding the winds of the Twisting Nether are still able to be reborn without issue even on a fel soaked world. Demon Hunters also have souls capable of being reborn as seen in the starting experience.

Yes, they are except if you kill them in the Twisting Nether.

"Twisting Nether is the only place where demons can truly die, yes. The specifics are yet unknown.”

"Since their spirits are tethered to the Nether, it is the only place where demons can truly die. As such, when they are killed, their souls are calmly sent back here, where they await for some time to be reborn in new bodies, with all the knowledge of their previous lives. Lothraxion described this as a pleasant experience.

Not all of a demon’s power returns to the Twisting Nether, however. Some demon hunters’ souls are also bound to the Nether, effectively making them demons, and killing them in the physical universe will only send them back there. Such souls are described by Illidan as “immortal demon souls”. The Nether was described as full of creatures of unimaginable power and appetites."

Officially demons experience true death or in places that are deeply statured with fel magic. Argus would have been one of these fel statured areas if not for the world soul of Argus being used as a cheat code.

You would think Outland and Mardum would be too fel soaked for it to lead to perma death for demons, but apparently even the hellscape of these worlds is still technically allows them to be reborn

Thing is, Blizzard has been extremely inconsistent about it. For example Velens son is considered to be dead permanently even though he died on Azeroth. Likewise Kil’jaeden is considered to be the same even though he died in Argus’ orbit. As the final phase of his encounter canonically takes place around Argus, while the previous phases are in the Twisting Nether. And of course there is the Archimonde shaped elephant in the room and how Blizzard have stated that they could just flip a switch and bring him back. Given the miscommunication surrounding the ending of his encounter in HFC. As mythic difficulty was intended to be the canonical ending. Where he dies in the Twisting Nether. However the cinematic clearly shows him dying on AU Draenor.

What is suspsoed to the base atleast nowdays

Demon dies → they start respawn in nether (think your respawn timer in Heroes of storm fror example) and ressurect at some random place in nether

and time depends on how powerfull/important demon is w,while we dont have exact times a imp may be back in days while a pit lord may take many years to ressurect

Argus was just a battery that HEAVLY speeds it up beign almost insatnt for weak demons and makes respawn point be Argus instead of random place

And if die in nether or heavly fell saturated place youre SUSPSOED TO death permantly

Like others have said, a demon suffers permanent death if killed inside the Twisting Nether, if a Demon Hunter consumes its soul, or if Void magic completely devours its spiritual essence—which is explicitly shown by the Devourer Demon Hunter specialization that uses Void power to permanently Consume and disintegrate enemy soul fragments.

EDIT: Now that I think on it maybe Warlocks, SP and DK could do this too… with their different unique arsenal of feeding souls. fueling their powers, abilities and combat utilities.
