Chunky melee spec?

Obliterate during pillar go bonk.

It isn’t. Frost does pretty good damage over all and has a solid enough consistent option with koltiras.

Yea if you want big goes either kyrian or necro mm. Although if you don’t know how to position or move you will get absolutely rinsed currently as MM.

yeah but he said consistant not 7 seconds out of every minute.

It…kind of is, though. Unless you mean constant/sustained, then yeah, Frost isn’t the spec.

thats what he said in the title of the thread before the edit. even then why would you play frost dk when you can play ret or warrior and just randomly half some ones hp in a global with 10x the utility.

I really miss Cata/MoP/WoD FDK. Albeit, being pigeonholed into DW for WoD felt weird, at least the pressure was still good.

i remember doing unhealable damage with necrotic plague it was hilarious. but unholy was still better in 2s unless you ran dk/ww or dk/enh in 2s then you were just unkillable and did infinite damage. granted red buff rogue was just unbeatable. also the same season when ret was just one shotting everything through the planet.

I miss death siphon and 3 dif types of runes :\ gave much more depth.

NP was so good lol. Red buff was pretty busted and honestly made rogue very one dimensional - was glad to see it go, but I’m also not a huge fan of Outlaw. I enjoyed when FDK had HC and would just run in, pop it, and the rogue/DK blew something up because no matter if the enemy trinketed, you still won with follow up CC. Cheesy, but satisfying.

The removal of the three runic schools made DK very boring IMO. Older iterations of Unholy were also more fun to play. I tried getting into the current form of either spec and just couldn’t find the fun in them anymore. :frowning:

its just combat point bm hunter with no mortal strike and less pressure aside from a 2 minute i win button. i hope people stop playing necro and like any other build takes over.

Post dark succor nerf FDk in cata was possibly the best position I’ve ever seen them in.

Strong, durable against anything that wasn’t feral or rogue, but not completely over the top.

Fun to fight unless you were a priest due to the newness of necrotic strike. However dks had to be good to use it, because they had to actually manager when to turn frost runes into death runes. I recall there being a meme build to cheese death runes, but you had to give up a lot, and back then you didn’t know what was coming out of the gate so it was risky.

you dont ever play koltiras unless its rbg’s and even then aoe stun is too big to not use especially with the only 2 comps viable being kyrian tsg and wwdk.

You can play koltiras in 2s and 3s just fine.

It’s good but you can play without it if you build the team to set up right.

For rank 1? Maybe. For the majority of the player base? Fdk has plenty of viable comps you can run.

You’re mostly looking at season 1 shadowlands arms. This stage of expansion arms still idolizes that role, only everybody else has gotten that much better / more gcd efficient that arms is super punished by targeting / organizational mistakes. Frost dk is safe, but unholy with necro bargain causes even more chunk damage in a fight, and it is far from the most complicated thing to enjoy winning casual pvp with.

koltiras is really good

its not that its bad. its just not better than team wide aoe stun for 4 seconds every minute and a half. its not like dk needs the damage

Consistent?

With abom limb, trinket and pillar I’ll be hitting target dummy for 23kish dps.

When I only have pillar and trinket I’m doing about 12ish k.

With nothing going I’m doing 5k.

So for 48 out of 60 seconds I’m doing 5k with no cds running which is less than 25% of max dmg and less than 50% of my 1 min goes.

Consistent = bm hunter where I’ll burst at 14k and do 10k with no cds.
