Chromie Time Issue

I’ve had my character xp locked at 79 and sitting in Cataclysm Chromie Time in order to keep all the content relevant for my level. I’m attempting to quest through each expansion and work towards Loremaster. Today I jumped out of Chromie Time in order to solo a couple classic dungeons to finish quests. Now I’m unable to re-enter Chromie Time. If Chromie will work up until level 79, I would think you should continue to have the option to jump in and out of it. If not, then make it absolutely obvious that you’re screwed if you return to “Present Timeline” for any reason.

If possible, can a GM re-enable Chromie Time? I’ll be sure to stay in it this time. Character is Arlinoz.

For suggestions regarding the game, you’ll have to move this to Community > General Discussion.

Nope.

This is for customer service and needs to be addressed, not for “General Discussion”.

This is the Customer Support forums, where aptly players help each other with guidance to the correct options, forums, etc. Yours is mostly a feedback about Chromie Time, which fits GD and a request to GM’s which there are none on the forums.

It is also not a request that GM’s will honor in tickets that I’ve heard of either.

There are no gms here nor would the blues be able to help either.

Got it. I assumed Customer Support meant exactly that. I’ve attempted an in-game ticket and got an automated response. This was a 2nd attempt.

2nd attempt or 2 hundredth, the limitations of Chromie Time can’t be overriden by anyone, Support or otherwise.

The reason you were directed to General Discussion is so that you can request that the developers consider adding that capability in the future. It won’t help now, but it may help some day.

In the meanwhile, the answer is “no” and will continue to be.

So you were able to level up to 79 in Chromie time but once you exited you couldn’t get back? I know there’s a max level limit on Chromie time, which I thought was 69, not 79. Maybe they increased it when the level cap went up, but you should still be able to get back to it. You could try submitting a bug report on it. It’s possible that they made a mistake when they raised the Chromie cap.

So Customer Support has limitations in what they can do, and they have very strict guidelines, they aren’t simply allowed to go in and hack the database to give players things, change their status, or move them along in quests. they also can’t provide hints or walk throughs. As for this forum, there are no GMs so its not an alternative for tickets, and its no way to submit feedback, as this forum is also not reviewed by anyone that can make decisions around policy or for future game changes.

Feedback of that sort should be submitted through the in game form, or through the appropriate General Discussion forum. In this case the forum will probably be the best as the in game forum is character limited, and this is an issue that you might get a number of other passionate players to contribute. Now additionally, I would avoid rants, and keep the thread positive, as one of the product managers who might make the decisions will be much more likely to review the thread and take it into consideration.

Unfortunately your asking for something that nobody but a Developer can do, and this simply isn’t something they would do since it would require them to hack the database to put you back into that state, and would likely have additional consequences. Now nobody expects you to be happy with the information you have received, because its basically sorry, you can’t do that, but its the only answer your going to get, because there is currently no option for what you want, and no they won’t make exceptions.

Edit: as someone also mentioned, if you think its a bug, you could make a post on the Bug Report page, but while QA does review all bugs submitted, they typically don’t communicate on the threads, so its still probably good to create a feedback thread.

Correct, from what I’ve read the new Chrome cap is 79 and you’ll get booted at 80. I can confirm that classic zones and Legion were both my level at 79. I had no idea that leaving it would stop me from re-entering. Unless, like you said, it’s a bug and that portion of the feature wasn’t updated with Midnight.

This is your answer. You can’t re-enter Chromie Time at 79. Working as intended.

It’s not. Chromie Time ended at 69 for TWW to funnel players into the current expansion. That’s why it’s 79 now: to funnel players into the Midnight expansion.

I want to point out most end game content for older expac dont unlock till max lvl 80 for TWW and probably 90 now.

So if he were to have initiated his XP lock at 78 instead of 79, he would have been able to exit and re-enter Chromie time?

Yes, if he had locked at 78, he should have been able to re-enter.

The more you know

So 78 is the true cap of Chromie not, 79. Got it. I’ll have to test that on a different character. From what I had read, you get booted at 80 which is why I locked at 79. Seems like that would make more sense than 78.

To some, but it also gives people wiggle room to start the new expansion content which many others might prefer.

Historically, new expansion questing has been available at two levels before the cap of the previous expansion, though we have seen some outliers through the years. For example, starting Midnight at 78 when the level cap was 80, or having started Dragonflight 58 when the level cap was 60.

I had this happen on 3 level 69 (max XP freeze at the time) characters during TWW. I left Chromie time to solo run a dungeon and couldn’t get back into Chromie time. Cancelling the auto bestowed quest that started TWW expac allowed me to go back into Chromie time on 2 of the 3. The one I couldn’t fix I’d gone to Silithus and talked Magni (or who ever has the TWW starting quest there) which I think is what messed me up on that toon.

Edited to add - If you haven’t started Midnight try cancelling the auto quest you get from logging in to start the Xpac and try Chromie again.

Has anyone here ACTUALLY attempted to leave and re-join Chromie time at level 78, and had it work for them?

Asking because for this player (https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/chromie-time-midnight-any-official-info/601112/25) at least, their level 72 character, who hasn’t done any TWW quest, can’t join chromie time at that level.
