DK is a good choice, and they’re getting a buff to movement speed next expansion. They may also get a rework of some sort, so don’t get scared away if you start one now and you don’t immediately love it.
Unholy specifically, like another person said earlier, it’s hard to get a great feel for it at lower levels because things die so fast, and the strength of Unholy is AoE.
Only other warning is that by the time you hit 70, Unholy becomes managing a lot of CD’s, and the opener is fairly strict if you want to do top DPS.
You’ll get used to it, and it can be pretty fun, but that’s not to say it doesn’t have some warts too.

And you’ll find yourself asking this question way too often.
DK looks fun to me. It also looks fun to you. I’ll probably be dusting off my DK (and honestly for the first time in a long time, for Frost not Unholy). I’d say level a DK. Now is the time to level.
Arcane Mage requires melee range for Arcane Explosion. Or close enough.
Typically speaking, DKs get shafted far more frequently than Ret Pallys do.
The thing is to try it all out at max lvl, with all talents and skills. Gear doesn’t matter, really.
Warriors feel kinda clunky. They’re too old-fashioned in terms of melee combat, but charge makes up for it.
DHs are better, imo. Mobility is more fluid and there’s plenty of aoe, you just have to get used to it. Sigils feel bad, though. I’d make a few small changes if I could, but I always end up going back to this class.
DKs are good, I’d say. Probably will be in a better place in TWW. Still, they’re fun right now. Frost is a bit clunky. Unholy got loads of cds to manage but works better.
Rogues are pretty flexible, got a lot of utility, feel a bit squish, and rotations are fluid. Being able to stealth is a nice perk. Sub might feel weird.
Rets got a nice revamp. It’s pretty flexible and feel good to use abilities. Got a lot more range than most melees. It’s worth a shot, for sure.
The ones with additional roles have something extra going for them.
Well , frost Dk , with frost elixir and a big 2h axe was really great till it got nerfed, Darn shame really

I also recently had the same experience with Paladin. I, personally, rank it just under DH, but totally agree Paladin was a surprise standout for me lately. Ret is fun.
Ret is fun, right now. Way back when, we weren’t allowed in Raids because we “didn’t do any damage.” It was awful.
Yes, I love Ret in its current state! It’s very bursty n’blasty.
Shaman has a few different ways to play and theyre both fun. I recommend this

Wf totem is a blessing when ur rl knows their stuff but a curse when they dont because i feel like a jerk harassing them about making the wf group xd
Your favorite meele class is the one that you should choos. And make your own groups for that stuff, if they don’t take you in.

Play a Class you enjoy playing as “what would be brought in a Raid or M+” is rather fluid, especially with how quickly buffs and nerfs are implemented now.
Enhance Sub, Sin and Unholy are probably my favorite melee specs. The only thing with enhance is low defense so you might die randomly sometimes. Unholy is really fun for AoE, a bit less so for ST at least right now but looking good for TWW. Rogues can take the longest to figure out but they’re fun, stabby stabby.
Ease of use and general survivability you can’t beat a ret paladin.
I love monk but leveling another arms warrior in remix has reminded me how much fun it is to just unga bunga
Well, Blizzard demonstrably HATES Demon Hunters and has been on a multi-year campaign to nerf them out of existence. A dungeon that takes 22 minutes with a couple of paladins will be wiped after 45 minutes of repeated death. This was not the case when Legion came out, but Blizzard crapped all over DH in December, and then made paladins 23% stronger nearly across the board. DH only seem to have gotten worse to the point my wife is quitting the game, and I may not be far behind.
