Nah I’m all for let the money follow the child and let the parents decide where their children go to school, Education system in America is broken and to politicized to trust it anymore.
Kind of ignoring the fact that the world is increasingly going off the deep-end, don’t you think? We’ve got kids working on plans on how to barricade auditorium doors in case of a school-shooter breaking in, while the PTA is filled with irate, “parents,” complaining that the school is trying to force their children to wear masks in the middle of a pandemic.
We don’t live in a time anymore where you can let your kids play outside and not have to worry about some creep pulling up in a minivan and abducting them to do terrible things to them, only for you to get their corpse three months later after it was found in a ditch off the interstate.
The fact you seem to believe there are enough jobs out there for every 40 year old to own a house and have their own families is pretty incredulous, or that playing video games had anything to do with this as opposed to stagnant wage/salary growth in favor of bigger bonuses for CEOs and Stockholders, a ludicrous leap in the price of housing, or a general increase in the cost of living that makes it impossible to live.
That and let’s be honest with ourselves, in this day and age getting a good job is less about how good you are at it, and more about what connections you have.
Sure that couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that the minimum wage hasn’t changed in 12 years while the cost of everything else has skyrocketed. Rent has tripled student debt is out of control due to predatory lending. Maybe its not that these 30 year olds were raised poorly and are just lazy losers who didn’t try hard enough. Maybe it’s just that the deck was stacked against them fro the start. Thinking that this government would actually do a good job raising children is madness.
loooooooooooooool
employers are begging for employees right now, even McDonalds is handing out hiring bonuses because they can’t even get younger people to work. Places like Target are even paying for college just for people to go to work there. Trucking companies are paying up to $10,000 of a hire on bonus. Police departments all across the countries are dreadfully short. Nearly all states have an extreme shortage of correctional staff and have hiring bonuses.
I planned to give you a decent and fair reply but it seems that you don’t know what’s going on in the vast majority of the country anyway. If you want to blame others for your own mess ups then you keep doing you.
Most people don’t make careers out of minimum wage jobs. You shouldn’t expect a nice life if all you ever did was settle on a minimum wage job.
Seems pretty legitimate to me.
*he says, clicking furiously
Yeah, ‘hiring bonuses.’ Rather than wages someone can live off of. But why should they want to pay a living wage? That’s ridiculously expensive in this day and age.
Great. Now, what’s that $10,000 going to do?
Pay off a tiny fraction of student loan debt, perhaps?
A tiny fraction of medical debt?
Might cover a couple of months of rent, depending on where you live.
Bonuses mean nothing if people aren’t being paid a livable wage.
The point of the minimum wage was that it was to be the amount needed to live a reasonable life. Its not anymore. No one should want to make a career out of a minimum wage job, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to survive off of it.
Likewise. The fact that you somehow think a, ‘hiring bonus,’ is some sort of answer rather than a livable wage just proves you have no idea how most people live in this country.
Who’s fault it is if you’re 40 and you’re working at an entry level position?
It’s motivation to actually get a job.
That’s a you issue that you racked up.
Sometimes you have to move, hundreds of thousands are dong just that right now.
I’m not sure why you expect an entry level position to pay more money. If you’re 40 and making minimum wage then that’s a you thing.
See above.
Nobody should expect to buy a house, a nice truck, and have an ice life making minimum wage. That was never the case, not a single time in the history of minimum wage was that the case.
You can quote things all day long but that’s not how the real world works. Sitting around kicking your feet complaining about it isn’t going to do any good, you have to take the initiative to get out there and succeed.
you must live in Kensington. just kidding. it dont matter no ones gonna control kids as a parent or government there gonna do what they want one way or the other and yall dont live there so you have no clue whats going on with kids. kind of like americans telling there kids not do something then theydo it from drugs to video games anything and everything.
And how much are those “educational” games used outside of the school environment? I’d guess very little.
I think WoW is an existing game in China… LOL. They are referring to NEW video games not yet released in China.
Using tabloids? Spreading lies?
Come on.
The truth seems to be they’re slowing approval for new online games. Not that they’ve “banned all new games”. They’re slow-walking and cutting down on the number of new online games. So the new release of tomb raider or whatever won’t really be affected unless it’s an online game.
Here is an Asian source with a more informative take: https://www.scmp.com/tech/big-tech/article/3148128/china-said-suspend-approval-new-online-games-heating-beijings
There is a bit of an issue with Chinese publishers publishing cheap, addictive, low quality online phone games. It’s what prompted Blizzard to want to release Diablo Immortal in the first place because they saw it was a craze and saw dollar signs (or Yuan signs more specifically).
So ultimately this move will probably have a positive impact on the overall gaming industry as it cuts down the profitability of a key market for these cheaper, more hollow online pay2win type games.
I’m not sure how I feel about all of this except that it could possibly lead to better games. Game companies go for what’s cheap and what gets them profits. If they can no longer do that they might be forced to invest in making quality games once more that aren’t so tethered to online connectivity and usually in-game shops and transactions. Fewer but higher quality games could be a good thing given how much of the game landscape in China is made up of cheap clones of one another with tweaked stories and slightly different art assets.
As WoW is a long-standing import game there’s probably a pretty good chance their next expac gets approval as long as they’re implementing any and all required regulations (for example the child playtime limits).
I wouldn’t think they would have to have an expansion approved as a new game, since it is just an addition to an existing game, and not an actual new game.
Lol well good. Maybe games will be better now game creators no longer need to catter to that communist totalitarian government.
This sounds like a good thing.
It’s considered that for regulatory purposes. It’s new content and significantly changes or alters the base game. Blizzard also submits each expac for ESRB approval to get that T rating on the boxes they need to sell them in stores.
From a regulatory stand-point this makes sense. Otherwise what’s to stop a company from say taking Hello Kitty Island adventure and releasing an expac called “Zombie Extreme” that’s M-rated, full of blood and gore and completely changes the peaceful Hello Kitty island to a bloody murder ground full of walking corpses?
As I said though it’s very likely it get approval as it’s a foreign game (and Chinese regulators tend to be more lenient on foreign firms), WoW itself has long existed in China and been approved, and because it’s outside the targeted scope of the regulations as most Chinese kids do not have a computer, let alone one capable of playing WoW. Chinese kids mainly play mobile games, some have consoles. The people playing WoW in China are overwhelmingly adults (as with elsewhere at this point, MMORPGs are not popular with the kids).
poo bear had a cry being killed by someone?.. -.-
They will be removing this within a month when their income has dropped from video game income.
so much for 3 hours a week now its zero?
i hope this is a troll lol
wonder what it means for a company like GGG that sold 80++% of their shares to tencent.
is this a big deal or are we blowing this up?
