No, it wasn’t. You got dazed and died. That’s what happened.
It wasn’t good until the glyph made it just turn off instead of dazing u. The daze was awful
That doesn’t make it less engaging. I agree with Thuper that the glyph to turn it off was best, but Pathfinding’s only real combat use is carrying flags and running away without kiting.
bring back old aspects
I agree as i rather enjoyed the old aspects. When we say old, I assume we are talking Vanilla wow here? At least i am. Now obviously in our modern world of instant ranged damage the old cheetah would NEVER work. I’d kill for aspect of the Monkey though… At least that would help a bit in pvp…
It actually does make it less engaging if you’re dead when you use it most of the time; like totally non-engaging. If it doesn’t have the daze effect (like a druid travel form) then I’m ok with it even if we are locked from attacking.
Haven’t played a hunter since wrath. When TF did they change AotC and for what purpose? Holy god that sucks
Legion or WoD, don’t remember exactly. But they changed it because every hunter ever was complaining about the daze effect, so they made it a worse version of sprint on a way longer cd.
Ah ok. Should have just made it turn off instead or something lol.
Nah it’s fine, don’t want old Cheetah because of Dazed and that u’ll never use it on PvP.
The old Cheetah was fine… If you knew how to use it. Unfortunately most hunters had no clue when to bump it on and off… so it usually went real bad real fast.
I miss the Aspects. You had to learn to use them. They were situtational. While Hawk was like a massive 90% of the time, the other aspects were amazing other parts of the time.
I miss Cheetah for when running back in raids, traveling around cities, etc. Other classes can beat Hunter in a foot race so easily now.
Hawk was important because it was ‘optimal’. It caused the other Aspects to be choices that we had to make based on the scenario. We had to sacrifice damage for the utility of the other aspects. This was good game design, and encouraged strategic thinking.
WoD had old Cheetah still. Every Hunter worth their salt glyphed it to dispel instead of daze, it was only a minor.
We had pet stuns too that helped to peel melee off of us. Monkeys could throw poo(short stun, dogs could bite, short stun or immobilize) that left for seige too.
So there we lost aspect dancing, disengage removing roots, snares, slows, and a pet peel
No wonder marks and bm are hurting now.
Not sure if we’re talking PvP or PvE but legion Cheetah with feet of wind was fine imo, could have maybe used a shorter CD but when it was popped, it was great.
The issue with current cheetah in PvP is both it’s long CD (can take hunting pack if it wasn’t so hard to use without pairing it with freedom) and the fact that it doesn’t give you a freedom. As BM with spirit beast, you pretty much can’t get value out of cheetah versus any class with slows unless you living action potion + cheetah or turtle disengage cheetah, both of which I feel beat the point of it being an individual 3 minute CD. It should be powerful enough on its OWN to not have to be paired with other abilities to be any semblance of effective.
Worth noting, it’s actually worse than you calculated. All 3 rogue specs have Fleet Footed baseline, giving them a free 15% movement speed, which applies at all times and stacks additively with Sprint (for 185% speed while it is active). Using your base speed of 1 yd/s (though btw, base run speed is 7 yards per second), that puts rogues over that 12 second period at 19.4 yards. In fact, a hunter using Cheetah goes only 26% farther than a rogue does baseline in that period (~25 extra yards).
TIL player characters run at 14 miles per hour.
This could be useful information for plotting distances between places on Azeroth in real world terms.
I never get why people keep using other class to compare. You are not that other class. Following that logic we might as well all have the same exact class.
Current cheetah doesnt need a buff, its fine the way it is. Use it properly. Cheetah isn’t sprint, so no it wont be like it.
Instead of comparing with something completely different, just stick to the suggestion of having it like old times with multiple aspects. Just that would had been fine.
Aspect of the cheetah
Increases the hunters move speed by 90% for 3 seconds. 30 second CD. aspect fo the cheetah CD is reset if the target leaves combat or is out of combat on use.
This changes it to a powerful reposition tool that can be paired with FD to have it up more often. This would also fit the class feel more for hit and reposition.
This also let’s hunters move faster when out of combat which could make them good flag runners in pvp.
Edit: this also make camouflage more powerful in pvp (which should be baseline and not a talent) as it helps us keep out of combat for repositioning
