I didn’t even know it’s possible to die on an island lol
I always went and did my own thing. If your iLVL was high enough there was no need to stay with the group. That said, I would always go and check on the other 2 and as long as everyone was good we would keep going.
I was kicked once because and it was because of a comment I made. Two guildies in the group with me and one didn’t leave the ship. It was a carry or MB’er and I made a comment on not being there to carry - so they kicked me. Oh well.
I’m not calling anyone out here, or suggesting anything wrong was being done by the OP.
However the over-arching message here is that if you leave the group in IE’s for WHATEVER reason, you can expect to be kicked. It’s just how it is there, I mean if you’d been on the forums during BfA you’d have read the many posts about getting kicked from IE’s, this is not a new problem by any means.
It is a group scenario, regardless of how skilled or geared you are, some people take the group thing very seriously and doing you’re own thing, as we all know, can get you booted.
I just think it’s odd since I was rarely in a group that wanted to stay together in BFA. That’s actually why I started going out on my own - the message was if we split up we can each meet the objectives solo and finish faster. If someone was in trouble they would message in chat and we would help, but otherwise I was rarely in a pug that wanted to group the entire time.
They were pretty much a solo mode in 8.2 and 8.3. For Heroics at least. Generally you would queue and everyone would split off to collect Azerite faster. SInce they never buffed the AI you could effectively continuously solo the entire enemy team if needed. It was almost impossible to lose in my experience.
But when they did the level squish it ruined all that. It went back to what it was like in 8.0 when you had to group up
How are you dying? In bfa, I often ran to rares alone to kill them…didn’t die, didn’t get kicked…maybe because I wasn’t on the boat, staying dead waiting on a rez, and not collecting az? I was usually the top earner as well, rarely was anyone higher. So maybe if you don’t have gear, stay with group if that’s why you are dying.
Haven’t done it in sl so can’t speak to that.
What’s the cheat? They don’t get more of a chance to get the rewards with less people do they?

Azerite power lol - made me throw up a little in my mouth just typing that out. Did you ever feel more powerful with azerite? Nope it was just a never ending bar that never got filled

Don’t release immediately. The orbs that drop from elites will rez you at the kill location.
Why are you running old dead content?
I think the real issue that needs to be discussed is how you’re dying in island expeditions

Sounds like you weren’t doing group AoE.
This is a major indicator that the problem might be you.

I recently leveled a couple toons via Island Expeditions, and within about 50/60 levels gained, I’ve kicked twice. Both times for AFKing. Even when the group splits up, it’s pretty obvious when one person is just sitting around on the map, not moving, nor taking damage.
