In the end, both parties involved in a legitimate transaction both benefit.
Win win.
It’s not two different markets when one market is based off another that they’re controlling.
And it’s really gotten out of hand. I tried selling a legendary numerous times that past couple days and the same person would undercut me within seconds. Almost seems like they’re botting.
This is ridiculous. People treat the AH like endgame when it shouldn’t be. This affects all of us.
Another drop in the bucket as to why the AH should be an exchange with prices set using the same rule for tokens.
AH takes a cut, so they can sell for less and make the same profit by selling directly? Also literally who cares.
I don’t think it matters that much. At the end of the day you will purchase that item for what you believe it’s worth or what you can afford. If you have professions yourself then you will eventually profit from these people if they are actually controlling the market in any way. Post your items for lower and lower until they purchase it themselves. Eventually they will feel that their “deal” won’t be that good and they will have to do something or sell lower. You could even broadcast in trade that you’ll sell for less than that guy. Heh
The last in, first out selling that goes on in the Auction. People don’t even need to undercut. Just make sure you list your items last and they will sell first…
It isn’t for you and it is for others. If you dislike what they are doing then you always have the option of making the items yourself or pay someone to make them for you. Then you don’t have to be reliant on the AH.
stares at bnet balance cap and two gold caps
LOL
…wait, are you serious?
yo lemme hold a couple dollars
Can’t gift bnet balance.
It’s pretty much both, but it’s also a free market.
or they’re willing to take a smaller profit in exchange for not having to cancel and re-list an item ten or fifteen or twenty times?
lol. wish I had the energy and time to try that.
list it for 100k and then sell it on the corner for 75k lol
Oh, no problem. You can just mail some gold over. Make sure to put a note in it that says “FOR MY FRIEND. NOT A GOLD SELLER.”
This whining is still going on? I’ll say it again.

If they were posting stuff on alts on the AH to make prices look artificially higher, that would be scummy.
(covers face, quickly walks away)
id never ever do that.

I don’t think it matters that much. At the end of the day you will purchase that item for what you believe it’s worth or what you can afford.
I asked my grandfather what something he had was worth years ago.
“its worth whatever youre willing to pay for it.”

Post your items for lower and lower until they purchase it themselves
If you really want to screw with some of them do this…post multiple listings graduating in price.
So the high price is 1000g.
maybe post your listings at
950g
900g
850g
800g
750g
700g
650g
600g
Depending what theyre doing it’ll force them to buy yours up at better prices than say if its all 600g …or they’ll drop their prices down enough for you to scoop theirs up and relist for a profit.

It just really looks a lot more like a case of a retailer who marks up their price ahead of a “sale” just to make it look like buyers are getting a discount.
Exactly.
Old-timer joke:
Customer: “Hey, this item costs twice what it does at the store down the street.”
Merchant: “So buy it there.”
Customer: “They don’t have any.”
Merchant: “If I didn’t have any, I’d be selling it for that price, too.”
Yes, sellers post items at ridiculous prices and then try to sell them in trade for a “big discount”. Buyer beware.
It is also routine that sellers put in bids on their other account to make it appear that the prices they are charging are reasonable and the item is in demand at that price. What they’re actually going to do is cancel the auction before it expires.
Is there an addon that automatically performs this entire scam process? I wouldn’t be surprised. The issue of inflating listing prices through the use of phony bids could be solved tomorrow if it was no longer possible to cancel an auction after there was a bid on it.
And… My level 6 LW troll (in both senses of the word) paid a trip to the AH this morning with some random BoE’s and low level stuff she made to get skill ups. An interesting item she picked up somewhere, an ilvl 13 white quality shoulder, which is of little use or value to anyone, was listed at 28k-34k on the AH by a number of sellers.
Half of the listings had bids on them very close to the asking price. Watch for it. When you see an item listed for an absolutely ridiculous price with bids just below that price, it’s a scam.
Oh yeah. She listed her item at 26 gold, which is what shoulders with only rp value are worth.

It is also routine that sellers put in bids on their other account to make it appear that the prices they are charging are reasonable and the item is in demand at that price.
No they aren’t. That’s a really silly way to waste a chunk of gold with a very low chance of return.
You must be one of those scammers. Let me educate you.
What “chunk of gold” is “wasted” when someone posts an item that has a vendor value of 15 silver at 30k and then posts a fake bid on it of 29.5k?
There is no use or demand for that item. The cost to cancel that bid is next to nothing.
