Character transfer from Classic to Retail

Just curious what everyone’s thoughts and opinions are on this, I’m fairly certain there wont be but if they ever:

Do you think it would stop or further illegal account trading?

Do you think it would impact the game heavily in terms of population control?

Do you think having older items from Classic roll over into retail that either have been removed or changed drastically would affect the game in a major economic way?

Do you like Pie?

Just bored and wanna hear ideas. Lets go.

IDK about the majority of them but one of them should NEVER happen. “having older items from Classic roll over into retail that either have been removed or changed drastically”. That is giant middle finger to those who have played vanilla 15 years ago and cherish the things only 0.1% of the player base of retail has. It gets rid of the unique and memories of those people.

Not only that, but it encourages people only playing the game to get mogs for their retail characters and being bitter the entire time they are there.

No.

It completely corrupts the motivations of the players trying to bring Olde Tyme Shinies in to Retail.

Play Classic to play Classic, not pimp your main in Retail.

I agree, devalues the time and effort put in for its time only to have it brought over and claimed to have earned it way back when, even though it wasn’t.

If there ever was said option possibly add side text to items or achievements saying, “Earned in Classic”? Idk I’m against the idea but you never know with Blizzard.

Besides, if people really want the no-longer-available items for transmog, the push should be to get Blizzard to make ways to have them available in Current

Absolutely not.

You have just disguised a request to get mog items from classic over to the dress-up game that is retail.

I actually haven’t nor was that my intention, you just assumed a question to make yourself feel better. That question is straight forward given the original statement and question. Toxic is toxic.

This should have been the only sentence. We know there won’t be because they’ve said there won’t be. On stage.

hey guys . Im not here to start drama but just share my point of view.Blizzard is face a solide end game soon classic come out . Players have a 24 hour a day like all normal players and blizzard is going to burn out players From Classic to the actual Expansion.I wish u all my Good Luck to Blizzard but is going to be a dissaster .

Old players know the game already and they are going to sky rock all the important materials on the AH. just this part will total take full control of the AH.

2nd thing ur going to see alote Angry Old core players not helping any new players so new players will stay back behind.

3rd things i know some AMAZing old macro who still work in-game witch will make some players Ultra Over Power .

i have a lote more idea withc il not share on forums .i just wait to test on live classic servers

English. DO YOU SPEAK IT?!

And you CLEARLY don’t know vanilla if that is your assumption of Classic LUL

Absolutely not. You would get tons of people playing Classic just to collect old stuff and then transfer off. These would be the worst form of tourists.

They need to be completely separate games under one subscription. Classic shouldn’t flow up to Retail and things from Retail should never be allowed into Classic.

Wouldn’t it be easier and faster to just get mogs from retail? Aside from items that don’t exist it is a lot faster for me to solo run all old raids and dungeons on a 120 char then grind all the way to 60 and have a lower % chance to get items

My only wish for a possible transfer from classic to retail is for those reputations that are no longer available. Specifically, the Zandalari and the Elves in Dire Maul.

meanwhile at Blizzard’s development studio office

“Hey guys ! …Have i got an idea for you, where we can make another pointless cash shop service that will help make it look like we actually did our jobs for the last 5 years.”

Honestly I don’t see a problem with it. The argument of ‘oh it disrespects past players and their achievements’… that excuse went out the window the minute classic became a reality.

IMO if you’re playing classic specifically to get transmog items or rep that are no longer available I got no issue with that. At the end of the day, its the same time sink, whether it you achieve it in 2005 or 2019. If you want to spend an ungodly amount of hours trying to do what many have done – my hats off to you.

I myself got the Zulian Tiger a long long time ago. I’m not going to be butt-hurt if I see a bunch of people have it on live as a result of transferring from classic. If anything I’ll probably be more impressed that they got it as a max level 60 and they took the time to do it.

Either way, it doesn’t change my past experiences or the shared history we all have with this game. We all collectively walked so many can enjoy retail today. If they want to walk in our footsteps for cosmetic rewards – go right on ahead.

A total NO NO … Classic != Vanilla, many such items were FAR HARDER TO GET in Vanilla than they are now, doing what you suggest would be … God help me, I’m going to use a meme I despise … a SLAP IN THE FACE of all those who got them ‘back in the day’.

No, they have already said it will never happen

It’s a dumb idea for soooooo many reasons.

Namely it would devalue the work did on Vanilla in the first place

Well smart pants, this character I’m posting with was a twink in vanilla, through TBC.

Aside from the small details that TBC had to offer me, look at his gear, why couldn’t he be brought back? I’ll wait for your ridiculous answer never.
