When streamers who share how to do exploits to thousands of their subscribers, and get 1 month max, with said exploiting subscribers getting several days to a week; do you honestly believe this ban wave was justified in light of that?
I can see it being a few days max, or a warning for most. But 6 months? Don’t be ridiculous.
Basically since business runs off customers if every player used armor mods then we could effectively change policy if they’re aren’t so stubborn as to be self destructive. Consumers do have power.
And they didn’t think about this before the wave was made? Or did they make the wave and are only bringing back a fraction? Either way, it’s still disappointing.
From the looks of it, it was a mix up where they were banning people that were putting NSFW or personal info of people into the addon. People not doing it were caught up in the crossfire. Doesn’t look like it was a ban on people altering game files.
They knew it was wrong and you are surprised they got in trouble? Tmorph and the like have always been against the tos.
A warning they did absolutely nothing to enforce for over a decade.
In any case, there’s a wave of these bans getting repealed, even people whose appeals were initially denied.

I am pretty sure players were banned for similar programs long before this wave. That doesnt show tolerance, even if it wasnt heavily policed.
Admittedly, 6 months IS outrageous. 2 or 3 maybe. The creators would certainly be punished longer though. That wouldn’t change.
I believe banwaves happen automatically, and they never imagined just how many players mod files and skins in a way that does not affect gameplay at all - just for visual pleasure. They should say something in this regard to be honest.
I still don’t know why they’re so stubborn in this regard. They should just make a folder named “mods” and allow us to mod this kind of stuff that doesn’t affect anyone.
I would want more then apology I would want min 6 months free game time since thats what the ban was for and i wasnt even banned I think all the people that got false banned should get free game time = to the ban time
Still don’t know how you’d justify giving players who mod their appearance longer suspensions than players who do actual game exploits that give them tangible advantages.
Either way, this point is moot now. It’s highly unlikely further action would be taken, at least for a pretty long while.

Streamers get heavier punishments, not lighter ones, when they make exploits and bugs public knowledge and promote their use in anyway.
If people had been banned for 6 months already, and then it was reversed, there would be an argument for 6 months game time as compensation.
People have been banned over this for 1, 2 days? And you think giving them 6 months free game time is warranted? Give them a week maybe (although highly doubtful) but 6 months is ridiculous.

They shared an exploit, so they got a heavy ban of 1 month, at least compared to their subscribers. This ban wave was 6 months, for people just having the remnants of the files in their directory from years ago. They didn’t even need to use it. It was highly excessive to begin with, especially compared to how light the leveling exploiters got off.
Overall looks bad on Blizzard because now people will just go to other games. A slap on the wrist is fine meaning it’s warning. Players wanting more to their characters means there’s more life inside the game than just grinding and raiding combined. Something Blizzard needs to look into for this game on character customization. For years character customization has been a dead horse, but if this can motivate them to start.
That’d be nice, but if not I would digress because it’s Blizzard. I want them to comeback, but how they’re presenting themselves right now makes me think the other route. However since they’re revoking the bans being fair about it gives me some hope that they aren’t that oppress to an certain extent.
True, but old Blizzard also gave warnings when players do something bad. You have 3 chances before penalties applied. You was able to play around, but this isn’t old Blizzard anymore. This is cooperate toxic movement propaganda Blizzard we’re talking about now. There’s no reasoning with them anymore
So you want Blizzard to crash even hard? This was a good move to redeem themselves not to move to hasty on weak penalties. Instead this should motivate to add more to character customization. That’s something they truly need to work on. People like quality and that’s something Blizzard lacks in the visual department.
Next time they won’t use character mods so the ban is the warning.

That leveling exploit messed up Preach pretty bad since it made him ineligible to fly out to the content creators summit at Blizzard.
absolutely when people in the real world make mistakes we are faced with fines and even jail why should a company not be held accountable for their mistakes. You think its ok for them to just close peoples stuff all willy nilly. Hate to tell you but this has caused alot of stress and emotional and mental hardship on players. Gaming addiction is a real disease and blizz cant just mess with people
