I find this whole topic very interesting. In terms of World of Warcraft, content creation by the community has been severely limited, where a huge part of this was the introduction of transmog.
If you look at something even somewhat similar like Warcraft 3, you’ll find a whole host of custom games created by players made possible because Blizzard allowed it, and it is the sole reason why some people like me still frequent the game.
This doesn’t just apply to Warcraft 3, content creation by the community has kept a number of games I know alive (Skyrim, Renegade.) Perhaps Blizzard feels the need to limit this creativity because they are still actively working on World of Warcraft; however, I know I’d appreciate it if they allowed us to make small alterations to either our client or our character models that helped us tell our story.
Really, all they’d need to do would be to allow you to drop replacement texture files into the WoW folder like you could back in vanilla/TBC (similar to how you can just drop addon files in and the game will recognize them). Obviously changing or replacing models would be out, but it would be something.
Are you 12 years old?? “my innocence has been murdered on this day!” Look around you and see how messed up the world is and how stupid your statement is.
I’m to assume that you’ve read everything you’ve signed? From front to cover? When you make a new email, sign up for something on your phone, signed up for that one game you downloaded and only played for 2 minutes? You’ve read all 25 pages of their crap?
While the ban is harsh, the warning is the ToS. You can’t be upset after breaking the rules for years.
I don’t expect everyone to read the ToS, I doubt many have. But if you’re using a sketchy mod, at least do the tiniest amount of research into it. Most mods like that even tell you that you’re at risk if you use them.
OMFG WHY! thats waaaay too much badonkajunk the fuuuuk? yeah… yeah …I dont disagree to THAT angle…is there even angles on that?
I’m glad most people (I’d severly hope) have better taste than mondo marshmallow man expansion…christ lay of the chutney…it pilgrin’s bounty not Pandemic eating disorder.
False. Basically, what you’re saying is that despite using a patcher exe file since Wrath; Blizzard has COMPLETELY been unable to detect people using these mods. Basically if you’re saying that, you’re admitting that Blizzard in essence has never banned any bots because if people using these mods were undetectable then every botter would be using them too. Which, is completely false.
Fact of the matter: They didn’t ban people for this stuff, there’s no evidence of any case of where this ACTUALLY occurred with evidence outside of this incident. Goodbye.
It’s also within their rights to shut down the game right now, delete all characters for no reason, and ban anyone for no reason. Saying ‘it’s within their rights’ is pointless, honestly; so stop doing it. On technicality, everything breaks their rules.
False, as many people also reported getting banned that didn’t use these methods. Also automated bans, also automated responses from the appeals.
On technicality, so did you; since it’s not the TOS it’s the ToU now. Their rules say there is no reason needed to action an account, therefore everyone is technically in violation.
Now I can see why wow was hard on them… Going in and messing with the game files is a slippery slope… And I believe wow was justified They have since reversed the ban but I think the 6 month ban for moding npc and characters…
was i wee bit much.
But I can totally see why they did it and wanted to Spruce up npc and toons…
Wow is outdated in that regard compared to final fantasy or even eso. All human females are the exact same height the exact same width… Same bust size…or any toon for that matter…
I don’t think much can be done about that the since Engine is so old.
